How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

VP, essentially he is a marxist. What did you expect from him. Can he ever come to power? I think not. Never mind Turkey Amerika wouldn't allow it.

What he is saying is essentially true. Turkey does not need the Cyprus problem solved as she is not going to be considered for the eu for another 10 to 15 years, by then the TCs in the north will number over a million. Problem solved as far as Turkey is concerned.

You were very popular once, I admit. Both you and Mr-from-Frog.

They will number over a million, well, where are those people? I posed this question before, after seeing derelict villagesi n the north. Where are all those 100s of thousands of people supposedly living in the north? Mesaoria is empty, so is most of Karpasia. Is everyone cramped into Nicosia and Kyrenia?

Nikitas, he is talking in 10 years time, not now. Of course people go where there is work.

Big fish eat little fish and that's that.

Well, have to agree with GR here (am seeking treatment for this recent phenomenon)

It is much the same sentiment that expressed here:

Fuck your parliament and your constitution. America is an elephant. Cyprus is a flea. Greece is a flea. If these two fleas continue itching the elephant, they may just get whacked good ...We pay a lot of good American dollars to the Greeks, Mr. Ambassador. If your Prime Minister gives me talk about democracy, parliament and constitution, he, his parliament and his constitution may not last long...

* LBJ comment to the Greek ambassador to Washington, Alexander Matsas, over the Cyprus issue in June 1964.

How can that mantra be OK when applied to say, Turkey eating Cyprus or Greece, but not OK when YOU and yours are the flea?

Jerry how many times do we have to say it to get through. Turkey did not want Eroglu. TCs as they stand will decide. Heed his advice well, in 10 years you will have majority TCs and the GC will begin to leave the island instead.

Mark his words.

You appear to contradict yourself here Fred. Will "the TCs as they stand" breed like rabbits in the next ten years or will they invite hundreds of thousands of mainlanders to the island and thereby commit ethnic suicide? Regardless of whether or not Turkey wanted Eroglu do you honestly think he is in control of the north?
