Izzet Izcan - Turkey threatens Cypriots with annihilation

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Gasman » Fri May 28, 2010 7:41 pm

Took the time to read it, the title is a poor representation of the article, it is Turkish Cypriots that face annihilation is what he is saying

Thank you.

I came to the same conclusion WITHOUT taking the time to read it all.

Sensationalist Thread Title. Attention Seeking Thread.

Acikgoz seems to have either failed to read the following, or wishes others to not read the item at all and accept his dismissive misrepresentation instead! Those who do bother to read the entire text will find the following:

Speaking of his comments at the European Parliament, Izzet Izcan said ....

"I had said that the Turkish Cypriot community has been led to extinction and that in the longer term they will also destroy the Greek Cypriot community."

"I personally asked the European Parliament to conduct a population census in the north, in the presence of international observers. I asked that in addition to the census they should help in the creation of an investigative committee which would examine the policy of naturalisation and put an end to this process."

Izcan says many other things which Acikgoz's dismissive comments are probably intended to put people off from reading - Gasman takes it for granted that he need not bother reading it - but our 'Instructor' Acikgoz seems to also ignore Izcan's choice of the closing phrase "we will all be lost together" !

"The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people. MLK"

...so is this another case where a "good" person talks, and nobody listens because they prefer to be wound up by the "bad" guys?

i recommend people read the article even if the headline is crass.

thank you grokked, thank-you for publishing the whole thing as well.

Very interesting, perhaps it will convince the EU that the illegal Turkification of the north is as unpopular with Tcs as it is with GCs. It's no use the EU saying the Cyprus problem has to be solved by the Cypriots when Turkey has complete control over the north.

Jerry how many times do we have to say it to get through. Turkey did not want Eroglu. TCs as they stand will decide. Heed his advice well, in 10 years you will have majority TCs and the GC will begin to leave the island instead.

Mark his words.

Grokked, apologies if I misrepresented what was the crux of the article, that part you quoted sounded more like soundbite rather than the issue the title defined or was expanded upon. I guess given it was not explained I didn't take it seriously. Please read anyone that has the time, I am obviously not seeing the substance that Grokked is.

This thread is a great example of how NOT to present a story/information.

Everyone should learn from it and move on!
