Texting while driving, warning by UN

Postby georgios100 » Thu May 27, 2010 10:02 pm

Ban Ki-Moon UN GC statement:

Cell phone use while driving results in accidents involving death and injury counted in the millions every year. All UN employees are now banned from texting while driving.

Stat projections call for deaths by cell phone use in car to surpass the AIDS epidemic in the coming years.

They will have to surgically remove the mobile phones from the hands of Cypriot drivers to stop them.

The other day I even saw a bloke on a MOTORBIKE texting as he weaved along the main road to Lca from the Airport!

As long as they only harm themselves ..... let them text and crash its just evolution at work.

Also applies to -

Drunk drivers

I have often witnessed Cypriot drivers texting whilst negotiating a round about , the women are the worst offenders . When in Cyprus last week I was flabbergasted to notice a young woman applying lipstick whilst driving , I sounded my horn and she thought I was making a ...pass at her !!

Most of the deaths reported from texting while driving are head-on collisions. In these cases, us, the innocent drivers out there must keep an eye on the violators to survive.

The other day, I drove off the road, on the dirt shoulder, almost in the ditch to avoid a collision with a guy in a pick-up truck. He was texting, I saw him.
The funny thing, he kept on going, like nothing has happened. He didn't even see me swerving to avoid the crash... what a moron!

You guys, watch it our there... stay alive! If you see a driver texting, get his licence plate & report it to the police.

Yes, this Lexus model has the typing pad as well which goes blank at 5 mph or more, to restrict drivers from typing while driving... smart!
