Really , take-offs! are included!!!! ...Wow!!!

Let me explain something, as you may not be aware .... If planes are landing from one direction, they normally take-off in the same direction. It's all a matter of wind direction to give the aircraft wings the required ''lift'' So it's highly unlikely that these aircraft will pass over the same place twice. Especially here in Cyprus with your prevailing wind conditions.... So it's either landings or take-offs, but not both!!!!

What GR needs is the correct data to work on, not assuptions about that data...

And yes i agree with you on your last remark, ....Why does he bother??

   Paphitis is a pilot, now you are giving him advice?????

Now who's making assumptions.

LarnacaMan, are you actually female??? Just asking, not that it matters, I just can't help feeling that you may well be like Gassy here.

God forbid if you are the same person ??

hey dickbrain B25 and birdbrain paphitis. here's the deal, I will bet any amount of money you wish to name that Papitis is not a pilot.

I accept the bet.

Are you in?

Paphitis,

Oh, .... i forgot, they turn these planes round in 20 min's right?? Jeeez!!!!

You say one thing in one posting, then come back with another matter in a second posting shooting yourself in the foot from the first post in the process... So if there were around 5.3 million using the old larnaca airport in 2005 ...how come 4 million tourists or whatever is now saturation point in 2010?? The fact is, you've been neglecting and even abusing the very industry that's been keeping you afloat these past 15 or so years.

Your just talking of personal preferences, and that has nothing whatsoever to do with the Cyprus economy. the fact that you don't give a dam about your countries economy speaks volumes about you... Wishful thinking alas doesn't pay the bills or help the economy!!!!

SOooooo, What companies are going to come to Cyprus, to create these new industries?? You have a political problem, that you can't get your heads around, you have a tiny home market outlet economy. ....So pray tell me what are you going to offer these multi-national companies to come to Cyprus???? You all live in cloud cuckoo land, you all think that there is going to be a saviour appear, to give you exactly what you want!!! Wake up, ...it ain't gonna happen

Finally going back to your Statistic's, We both know your calculation is a meaningless one don't we, We both have experience of how airports actually work, and we both know there are ''NOT'' take-offs and landings at Larnaca airport every 10 min's 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.... Airport movements are far more complex than this!!! So why print it?? To make a point or impress others that don't have any idea about airport aircraft movements??
Larnaca may well be able to cater for 16 landings in a few minutes, but then that's the bridges FULL....

And you call me an Idiot!!! ..... the only stupidity that's being shown here is from people like yourself, that should know better, instead you prefer to play games and encourage all the crap that goes on here!!!

You are being very silly.

The figure quoted above includes all movements. It includes Cypriots, many of which are frequent flyers, as well as business travellers.

An A320 or B737 can be turned around in 30 minutes, but 45 minutes is standard. So, Larnaca is able to handle an A320 every 10 minutes with ease.

Cyprus could attract a variety of new industries from mobile phone manufacturers, oil exploration companies, defence companies, financial services, shipping, and even attract an automotive manufacturer. All that is needed is the right business conditions. The island's position is ideal for the manufacture and export of goods. Cyprus can attract the new industries by providing some kickbacks and even some tax breaks.

No mate. I know for a fact.

45 minute turnarounds are pretty much standard for medium sized aircraft.

My god!! ...have you suddenly forgot, Cyprus is now in the EU, Kickbacks Tax breaks ain't allowed !!!!!

The majority of those industries have already gone to the Far East my friend, where labour and set-up costs are next to nothing in real terms, and there profit margins are way beyond anything that Cyprus could come close to giving them.... Anymore good ideas???

Just pay the damn fines. Tax revenue will outweigh the fines anyway.

Not completely correct. Australia managed to attract Motorolla by providing certain incentives. Cyprus could do the same.

I am willing to wager any amount you like.

How about we bet 200 Euros. At least the bet is affordable for you, but we can bet a higher amount if you wish.

Let me know!

And I'm what you call ''silly'' and an ''idiot'' You really don't have a clue do you, ...By the time it comes to the Second EU Fine, any gains made will be clawed back....and then some!!!

There is NO quick fix for Cyprus, i think every sane person knows that !!! Cyprus has been in the same position in this world from year dot, what do you think has made it's position suddenly become so desirable???

It has shipping companies now, it used to have umpteen Financial service companies, (now long since departed after the EU came in) Defence companies, ....are you serious, in a political unstable country (as perceived by such companies) that just ain't gonna happen. Car Manufacturer, hahaha!!! just too silly to comment on, that one!!

Come back down to earth, as it stands Cyprus is basically on it's own, and for now, being subsidised by the EU. It has few if any desirable attributes as far as new industries coming here to set up business. It's a shame but it's the truth!!
