Soto, no need to waste your time with these wankers.

Piratis has shat all over them and they have nothing to counter other than their usual foul mouth insults. Y-Fuck I understand, but now he has a new little lap dog, the perverted little shitbag Deniz has joined the scene to throw shit.

Well, throw away boys, Piratis has tied you up, chewed you up, and spat you motherfuckers out.

Arseholes.

If you want to respond to Piratis, counter his argument not him. Anyone can throw abuse like the above.

Either put up or STFU.

Capish!

I am using the same sort of language he uses. End of discussion. He is in a privileged position and should not abuse his power. And you can talk with your foul mouth. Pot , kettle black rings a bell.

B25;

I did not attack piratis out of the blue.
First he compares us to grey wolves-of which he has ni idea and then has the gall to moan of personal attacks on him. He has a cheek to complain on such matters when he shows his own foul capabilities.

"When the "Macedonian" issue was at its height, a hapless Greek dared to say that Alexander the Great did not conquer half the world by throwing rose petals around but by massacre. He was buried, by the majority of course."

You are out of touch with Greek media, Bananiot. Alexander the Great has been called everything under the sun in Greek media by all sorts of intellectuals, pseudo and otherwise. Your take on public discourse in Greece is definitely biased and as for Cyprus I refer you to scathing criticism in writings like those of psychiatrist Mechellidis who often calls GCs "pezevenkides" in his articles and suffers no censorship or vehement criticism.

I know of no other national unit that criticises itself so viciously as the Greeks do.

When the British colonial regime allowed the activities of political parties in 1941, the AKEL was formed as the legal organ of the Communist Party of Cyprus. Again there were no Turkish Cypriots among its founders.

When AKEL adopted the policy of union with Greece (Enosis) at its second congress at the beginning of 1943, there started some problems for the Turkish Cypriots in their cooperation with the Greek Cypriots, both in the trade union movement and in the political activities We observe here for the first time a division of the working class movement on the ethnic basis.

Imo, it explains how inter-communal conflict was unintentionally started by GC left... Since then everything went in perfect correlation with global, regional and local movements, actions etc... such as communism vs capitalism, rising nationalism, super power interests on geo-strategic and geo-politic areas... unforgetable fire of past and ongoing Turco-Greco disputes... armed struggle was all around the world... we weren't the only ones fighting, killing each other for national cause...

However, it is painfull for all humanity to lose their loved ones in an armed conflict... it's better to struggle without arms... though still it's painful especially for a considerable number of Cypriots who live in Cyprus or abroad... They are the ones who socially, psychologically and economically affected by the conflict...

Yeahh... GC left unintentionally started the inter-communal conflict... who knows, maybe they unintentionally could bring an happy end to this conflict...

No, no, no... Don't you see that whole world is in conflict and... yeah, i'm against the armed struggle but it seems inevitable when tensions get it's highest... Imo; unfortunately... a new world war will bring us all a new fresh begining...

The article of Ahmet Djavit An seems very good, but I don't think that we should go that far to the conclusion that "the inter-communal conflict was unintentionally started by GC left". The elites of both communities were influenced by nationalist ideas much earlier than 43, and they had the means (schools, newspapers, economic dependencies etc) to pass them to the normal people. What we can perhaps blame the Left for, is that it didn't fight enough against this.

AKEL decided on Enosi in 43 having also in mind what was going on in Greece. EAM-ELAS was growing stronger, and it seemed very possible that after liberation from Germans Greece could become a communist country. So, from AKEL's point of view, it seemed preferable to unite with a communist country than being part of British Empire. After 49, as it was sure that Greece wouldn't become communist, the Enosi-movement was already too strong among GC people, so AKEL didn't have much choice.

But anyway, the decision of '43 was a very big mistake. It blocked any chance of a common front of GCs and TCs against colonialism.

I agree with you Afroasiatis ... so, instead of asking who started the inter-communal conflict; we must question what started/caused the inter-communal conflict... the answer is i think... the political environments(local, regional, global)...

The local, regional and global politics still have been affecting the relations of 2 communities and on going solution talks... The core of the problem is same... majority rule vs political equality of two major ethnic groups of Cyprus...

According to Piratis, GR and most GCs Ottomans started the conflict by invading Cyprus.

 Now ask an Ottoman descend, he/she would tell you if Venetians constituted no threat; Ottomans would have never invaded Cyprus...

Now ask a Venetian descend, he/she would tell you if Turks stayed in central Asia we would have never been considered as a threat against Ottomans...

Now ask a Turkish descend, she/he would tell you why should have Turks not advanced towards west and invaded the places they could while other invaders of west advanced towards east by invading the places of other people...

Yeah... now let's say twist of fate! All and all a vicious cycle...

decent?

But, Nikitas, when was the Macedonian issue at its height? You copied pasted my bit, yet you refer me to today's situation.
