What will President X do now???

Cyprus, EU, Iran high on Turkey's regional agenda

What the hell happened to you? Here you are supporting another "cunning plan" to recognize the "trnc"

WTF?

DT...You have been talking about Turkey not making compromises...Davutoglu is promising to open all Turkish ports to Cyprus if trade bans are lifted on the trnc..He said nothing about recognition...Are you guys for real??? What do you expect,Turkey to pack up and go tomorrow without you giving an inch....???The real question is...WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU???You were a reasonable, sensible person...You have turned into a bloody GC fanatical nationalist....

You know what...its not worth it. Its not worth arguing. Here you are playing dumb that direct flights to occupied cyprus would equal recognition...a proposal given by the man that made ABSOLUTELY CLEAR that had their not been ANY TC'S on this island....TURKEY WOULD STILL HAVE CREATED A CYPRUS PROBLEM...

now tell me how important the Cypriots have been in this.

don't worry about it Bir...the way you're going even Bananiot will find you too extremist soon.

You've started making points that even some die hards in Istanbul that I know personally would laugh at.

So,what is your game plan DT???? Are you counting on the EU to kick Turkey out of Cyprus or are you going to wait till "the balance of power changes" to throw Turkey out by force???? Tell me how you are going to solve our little problem,so I can have a bit of a laugh as well...

I've offered may other alternatives that are far better than recognition of the northen part of our island as a separate country. Any policies that promote recognition will be shot down by this side. Like it or not.

Now you can have a fake laugh with y fronts about how not funny his next post will be.

I have been a passionate supporter of a reunited Cyprus where all of our people will be equal politically and in every other way , where all are Cypriots first and foremost and all part of a united Cyprus. I have and always will , considered the division of our island as anathema , as a catastrophe waiting to happen since future generations will have numerous reasons to embark once again on the killing spree.
Cyprus is one nation NOT two , we are seen as such by ALL international bodies , succumbing to Turkeys demands for the removal of embargoes and accepting direct trade , flights etc is paramount to recognizing that there are two states in Cyprus. No Sir , there is but one Cyprus and one people not Greeks and Turks but Cypriots. Those whose allegiance is to either of these two foreign countries ought to seriously consider joining their motherlands. The RoC MUST NEVER GIVE IN , There is only one Cyprus , one nationality and one people , anything else will in the near future cause immense damage to our people.
Turkey wants to join the EU , the EU has proclaimed that she must recognize the RoC . The RoC in turn has a duty to remove obstacles placed to deter T/Cs acknowledging that this island is theirs too .

No one is talking about recognition, dear miltiades...
Please don't tell me you have caught the paranoia bug so prominent in some people on this forum...We need to take some steps to get us out of the Mexican standoff we have been in for so long...Imagine,imagine that Turkey opens all her ports to Cyprus and perhaps also returns Varosia to RoC control,in return Cyprus allows Ercan and the two seaports to be used by the trnc...This will create an awful lot of goodwill between Turkey and Cyprus and between Cypriots as well...We can start rebuilding Varosia, and the TCs can breath a little bit easier, knowing they do not have to depend on Turkey for everything...Some TCs might even begin to believe that a BBF with a strong government is possible without Turkey's guarantee...Would that be such a bad outcome...???The UN can declare that this move will in no way equal to the recognition of the trnc...Even Turkey might agree to sign such an agreement to that effect...
Just refusing every offer outright makes the TCs afraid that the GCs are still hell bent on dominating them socially and politically, hence demand Turkey's guarantee in any future agreement...Something has to give...Someone has to show the first sign of trust...And given our past history that side can only be the RoC,the side which claims to represent all of Cyprus...

My dear Bir , I think you know me well enough not to presume that any of my views have altered one centimeter.
The fact of the matter is that the RoC is not occupying a part of Turkey in which part the RoC has filled with Cypriot settlers . Turkey is however and as an occupying power in total control of the northern part of Cyprus she ought to make the first conciliatory move . There is no way that any political party within the RoC will ever endorse direct trade with the "trnc" which the international community do not recognize. Doing so will mean an instant recognition of the de facto state, something that no Cypriot politician could sell to the people.
The RoC in turn should concentrate in convincing the T/Cs with solid acts and not just words that this island belongs to us all and that the T/Cs as citizens of the nation will not be treated as second class citizens as they once were.

But Milti, how is it that Taiwan can trade with the world and yet it is not recognised. Considering that the sunctions are driving TCs and their economy to the ground any continuation will only compound the solution. Soon it will drive it to the impossible range. Can we get a hold of reality and look for real solutions in the real world rather than close our eyes and hope that the problem goes away when we open our eyes again.

But Mal Be reasonable. If that is the case, what is wrong with each of you kissing each others' arse simultaneously?
Problem solved. Enjoy.

No, no, no. Please don't offend me, YFred. I simply couldn't dream of it. His troops and settlers are guests in our country, so I must insist the Turkish FM avails himself of our celebrated Cypriot hospitality first. But, as I say, I promise I'll follow through when he's down there, if he insists.
