Jesus and Hitler and Richard the Lionheart

The three Kings and Moses and Queen Cleopatra

The Cobbler, the Maiden, the Mender and the Maker

The Sickener and the Twitcher and the glad Undertaker

The Shepherd of the willows, the Harper and the Archer

All sat down in one boat together and had....................

"A troubled voyage in calm calm weather". :eyecrazy:

It is traditional to quote the source when you copy something from the Intermong.

Apologies for my oversight cyprusgrump, the fact is that those words are an extract from a song by 'The Incredible String Band' and I believe the title to be 'Maya' from an album entitled 'Wee Tam and the Big Huge'.

It is an old recording dating back to the sixties I believe, a 'Hippy' view of events that were taking place at that particular time.

I thought it might be appropriate to revive it as an illustration of just how tumultuous certain debates can become when participants in such debates adamantly cling to their own views completely disregarding the views of others.

The Cypriot people were once renowned for their hospitality and compassion, they were also quite philosophical in matters relating to their futures.

Sadly, it would appear that much of the niceties of being either T or G/C and living in close harmony with each other, has been destroyed by those powers which exposed the Cypriot minds to visions of the unattainable.

Not the fault of the Cypriot people, they were such a simple folk, easily manipulated.

I would regard the statement made as to the natural simplicity of the Cypriot people as a compliment, my childhood recollections of the kindness and consideration extended to strangers by the most humble of Cypriot families was rarely found elsewhere.

Strong family ties and unity were also a distinct characteristic of Cypriot folk and I can bolster that statement with some authority since my own family hail from Cyprus.

The purpose of exhibiting the words of the song (NOT the style of life which created the words) was to illustrate the fact that in certain situations, it is so easy to create turmoil in a placid environment simply by failing to give credence to another's point of view.

Politics is a filthy business, everyone recognizes the fact YET, how is it that WE (as lay persons with mostly decent principles) allow ourselves to become embroiled in political arguments which (as lay persons) we have NO sound knowledge of, other than that which is fed to us through the media ?.

Repeating and expanding the opinions of those (politicians) which we know are involved in a 'Filthy Business', does not enhance our own intelligence one jot, rather, it diminishes our own abilities to think for ourselves.

You do not believe me ?, look what is happening to our country under our very noses.
