I think maybe your a right.

I know the debt has to be repaid here in the UK but increasing it to 20-25% is going to hurt many people

Didn't know that VAT was 20% in Greece?

I think VAT will increase to 20% and the remainder of the deficit reduction will have to come from public spending cuts - shouldn't be difficult given the way Labour threw everybody's money around...

However... I've just readthis and can't really pick holes in it... :x

Z4 don't click the link, it will go over your head....

In the press on Sunday. The People and Daily Mail.

It's also been mentioned on Sky News. Nothing is confirmed yet (and that means what the rate will be ) but there will be one though

I think VAT is the fairest TAX of all!

They should do away with Income Tax and Council Tax and just charge everyone who buys anything 40% VAT!

End of!

Nice and simple.

You spend ... you contribute!

You wanna hang onto "money" you stay deprived of life's riches. Fair's fair! :D

Stop whingeing! In Greece we earn way less than the UK and we pay 23% VAT on prices that are already higher than yours. Even Greek products are more expensive here than there and we pay up. Gas is going on 2 Euro a liter and people manage, you will too.
