I have been a mechanic for some time and I have the tools you need...however I am in the Larnaca district. Sorry.

I understand that there are mobile mechanics working in the Paphos area, am sure I've seen them advertising somewhere. Perhaps someone on this forum knows of them. Would have thought their charge for turning up and using their tool on the filter would be reasonable...?

Very frustrating for you I do sympathise.

Thanks...

It is annoying when such a simple job turns into a nightmare like this - I had to get a bloody taxi to a restaurant and back on Friday!

With hindsight, I should have ordered the right tool from ebay last week... only £8.49 plus shipping...

I just found an article titled…

“How to deal with that stuck oil filter”

And it starts with…

“The best way to fix this is not to have it happen in the first place”

Have I got a deal for you!

A 1959 VW Beetle, only 2 owners from new (mother and son).

Only used to go to Church on Sundays!

Two years MOT, taxed until the end of the year!

True bill (except for the bit about Church on Sundays).

Did anyone else play this game? :D

If its any consolation the threaded spigot which the filter screws onto is very tough. In the past I've had very stubborn filters, but have never known the spigot to be damaged as a result.

I think you'll find a new filter will go on ok.

I know...

I don't want to destroy it in case I walk into a shop tomorrow and they offer me one of these: -

If I can't find anything tomorrow I'll smash it to pieces...
