Yes it was, but the unification had the 'will of the people' behind it - it was not imposed from on high or from outside.

There was still a hell of a lot of ill feeling around on both sides (especially the West) for a long time afterwards.

And it was the 'property' problems there, after unification, that put a lot of foreign would be investors off.

We have a property problem here too - sometimes seems the property issue is the MAIN problem to me.

Does this make all the blacks guilty? Should Europeans re-invade South Africa and occupy it to protect their own minority there? Or maybe they should split South Africa in two, ethnically cleanse the majority of the population (Blacks) from one part, and give that part to the whites and to more European Settlers? You think that this should be the "solution"?

We have a lot of South Africans with Cypriot ancestry that returned to Cyprus after Apartheid ended. Coming to Cyprus was a legitimate option for them if they could not live in a non-apartheid SA. Keeping the Apartheid in SA was not an option.

The way forward for South Africa is to help them became a normal democratic country with human and democratic rights for all their citizens, not to look for excuses to maintain racist divisions and discrimination, which is what created the hate and the problems to begin with. Or maybe the blacks in SA are born "evil fascists" like GCs supposedly are according to some? If the whites are hated in SA this is not because the blacks are "evil" but because the whites won the hate against them with their actions against the blacks all these centuries.

The same is true for Cyprus. NOTHING can excuse racist discriminations, segregation and human rights violations.

What I am saying is that there are laws, police and courts in SA and they should be the ones to deal with any criminals. You can not use those crimes as an excuse to indiscriminately violate the human rights of the whole black population of SA.

Racism and discriminations are the root of the problem, and are never part of the solution. Even those white farmers that Gasman was talking about are victims of the hate generated due to these racist discriminations that plagued SA for centuries.
