Have you got a link to that CBBB? I believed Cyprus to be one of the countries that got more out than they have to put in.

Cyprus entered the EU as a net contributor from the original entry grant and has returned to net contribution to the EU from 2007

I agree with vaughanwilliams, we are savages. Why can’t we be more civilized and use smart bombs, drones, etc. and bomb innocent civilians, like the Americans and the Brits do in Iraq and Afghanistan and leave the poor helpless little birdies alone.

We really need to get our priorities right, while innocent little birdies are getting killed in Cyprus, all the bleeding heart human rights activists are wasting their time on useless issues like the persecution of the Palestinians in Gaza, Afghan and Iraq civilians getting slaughtered, when all this is just collateral damage and not war crimes. When genocide and crimes to humanity are going on right under our noses her in Cyprus.

Finally why can’t these Cypriots take up more gentlemanly activities like fox hunting, etc. like the civilized Brits, who just hunt the fox for the hell of it and don’t eat the poor thing after chasing it half way around the country side.

Vaughanwilliams, There is an old Cypriot saying, “who ever can’t beat his donkey, beats the saddle”.

Use your time more productively and petition your government regarding Gaza, Iraq, etc.

What the UK govt is doing/has done in Iraq and Afghanistan and possibly soon yet another country is not done in my name. I left.

What is being done to wildlife albeit much less important than human life is nevertheless still important. Those in this country, and there are many of them both sides of the divide are campaigning to stop it, as illegal trapping is just as prevalent in north there is the need for another bird protection society there too.

A defunct zoo in Limassol recently had three of its leopards who in the Born Free Foundations words 'had a nightmare life in captivity there' were finally taken back to a semi-free life in Africa. Noboby tried to beat them up did they.

British Cypriots in the UK if they have a need to, should and are able to object to whatever they feel is wrong with the world.

The recent head of Amnesty International a refugee from Bangladesh living in the UK for 30 years quite rightly objects to what is happening in Iraq just because she lives in the UK why should she shut up about what she see,s as wrong?

I could,nt agree more that there is cruelty to wildlife in the UK, I reported many badger baiters late at night in the countryside where I lived for 25 years, they ran rather than beat me up though

The activists were NOT arrested, many many poachers and a few of the attackers were.

We should make allowances but some things are not right at any time and too often mans inhumanity is excused as being a cultural thing when in reality it is just basic greed and cruelty ,a trait that is common in all cultures but excused in few.

It's because you have not tried the little buggers, they are delicious with some bulgar wheat. Never tried badger though. How is it cooked? I bet it tastes like chicken.

PS. By they way your title of "EU Country or 3rd world savages" So you relate all 3rd world countries as savages? Most of the savages in this world are from the so called developed world.

Yes the title of this thread was an unfortunate one and 'inflammatory'.

Finally why can’t these Cypriots take up more gentlemanly activities like fox hunting, etc. like the civilized Brits, who just hunt the fox for the hell of it and don’t eat the poor thing after chasing it half way around the country side.

Pissouri - fox hunting was banned years ago in the UK.

Badgers would have your hand off, nasty quite large animals but protected in the UK. As for eating the birds, fine! But breed and farm them safely, don,t take them from the wild.

Btw that was,nt and never would be MY title, the illegal hunters in the north do exactly the same. Perhaps you need to read again

3rd World countries could imo teach the west plenty.

Vaughan,

Did you see this bit in the report you posted:

"This information is NOT intended to suggest that the area is generally dangerous for foreign tourists."
