How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The buildings in the Athens photo don't look anywhere near 4000 years old!

B) SIngapore is 40-60 years old as far as I know and Frankfurt was flattened in the 2nd world war so they were both built recently since you like your skyscrapers.

If you've walked Athens and seen some of the unbelievable places this city holds you'd know how stupid you sound.

Why are you finding excuses when Athens is such a dump? :? It’s a reflection of the average Greek who still lives in mythology!

Australian major cities like Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, started out as a bunch of tents from the 1780’s onwards (that's around 230 years ago) and they went through all the architectural stages like Victorian, early 20th century, etc, and look at them now... they’ve all got gorgeous skylines just like Singapore.

That's progress whereas in the case of Athens it's called regress!

I honestly think every Cypriot student should have a trip to Singapore. EVEN LESS natural resources than us, but a strategic location (like us)- a kicking economy based around education and business.
Incidentally, I would hate to live in that sterile soulless place, but it's a good place to show what we could achieve.

the reason singapore reached such a height is due to the fact it is a duty free, tax free port...a lot of companies use singapore as a storage hub for their goods without the impunding levies from their own countries on warehousing...for example if we were to talk about memory products a lot of then japanese companies were manufacturing in japan and move the stock to singapore...Along with a lower company tax, various tax incentives and free rent up to 3 years...that is my experience with singapore in 96-98...

Where they shop, eat and walk underground a lot of the time to avoid the heat and the heavy rains? Not for me.
