TATAR RETURNED FROM ANKARA

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

TATAR RETURNED FROM ANKARA

Postby halil » Wed May 12, 2010 1:59 pm

The TRNC Minister of Finance Ersin Tatar who completed his contacts in Ankara returned to the North Cyprus yesterday. During his stay in the Turkish capital, the Minister met with the Turkish Minister of State in charge of Foreign Trade Zafer Caglayan during which he discussed the customs protocol as well as other commercial matters involving the two countries.

In a statement before his meeting with Mr. Caglayan, Minister Tatar pointed to the fact that Turkey was the TRNC’s largest trading partner and underlined the need to lower export and shipping costs as well as trade tariffs between the two countries.

He said his ultimate goal was to transform the TRNC into a big and successful Turkish market on the European border.

“We are aiming to bring more Turkish products to the TRNC at lower costs so to curb the public’s spending in the South” the Minister added.

Speaking for his part, Turkish Minister Caglayan said commercial problems between Turkey and the TRNC will be overcome with joint initiatives.

How are TRNC consumers to earn the money to buy all these Turkish goods?

Are you saying that all TC consumers depend on handouts?
What is more worrying is what are these commercial problems they are talking about. I was under the impression that we had free trade with Turkey.

They gave us everything free.

Could it be that he wanted to "refuel " CTA, according to Frank: -

Here the biggest story has to be the fate of CTA. If they don't get refunded by 15th May then they will have to be declared bankrupt, the paper says.Their debts are in excess of 100 million dollars and the staff have not been paid for last month yet. There just has to be a massive restructuring and a major stripping of staff. Can't see anybody being willing to take them on as they are. Also political appointments to run an airline, with men with no airline experience at all, cannot be right
