EROGLU SENDS ELDERS THANK YOU LETTER

Postby halil » Tue May 11, 2010 11:54 am

TRNC President Dervis Eroglu has sent a letter to the chairman of the Elders Archbishop Desmond Tutu thanking him for his message of congratulations on his election. President Eroglu expressed his belief that the Elders will support efforts to remove the unjust international isolations imposed on the Cyprus Turkish people.

In his letter of thanks, the President conveyed his gratitude to the encouragement and support expressed by Tutu to the Cyprus negotiations process aimed at reaching a just and lasting solution to the Cyprus Problem.

Explaining that the details of the process will be discussed and settled with his counterpart Demetris Christofias, President Eroglu said “I would like to express my commitment to concluding the talks with a settlement.”

Pointing out that the Turkish Cypriots had an expectation from the international community to remove the inhuman and unjust international isolations and embargoes imposed on them for the last 47 years, Eroglu expressed the view that such a move would push the Greek Cypriot Administration to adopt a more flexible and constructive stance at the talks.

In this regard, the only thing endorsed by the international community, your leadership and the U.N. since 1979 is BI-ZONALITY.
