I am against them exploring the world. What a waste of CO2! Get a job you bums! backpackers should eat out of dumpsters in their home country until they can afford a 5 Euro capuccino and 1st class Cyprus Airways flights. What contribution can dumpster diving backpackers make besides eating the apparently huge amount of rubbish Cypriots create?Maybe Cyprus should ship its dumpsters around the world so the backpackers can stay home and Dumpster dine Cyprus style. Cyprus will no longer be the EU's 2nd largest per capita producer of rubbish.. If Mohamed cannot afford a Cyprus airways ticket to a Dumpster then the dumpster can go to Mohamed. My experiences of living next door to poor scum made me a miserable bastard but perhaps exporting 2nd hand food may prove a more lucrative industry as opposed to lower end tourism

What was the problem, did they get to the dumpster before you could?

CBBB sorry for the delay in responding.

My parents have a shop next door to an unlicenced backpacker hostel. When I was a kid we used to lived in unit upstairs. Backpacker scum would raid dumpsters of mini markets, the bakery, fruit shops and restaurants. I cannot understand someone paying $2,500 to travel to Australia from Europe to eat out of dumpsters. They would also go to charities feeding the homeless and street kids for food. DO YOU WANT THIS SCUM VISITING CYPRUS?.

The fact that fares are a little more expensive to go to Cyprus is its only salvation. When it comes to tourism it is all about quality not sheer volume.

Also some resourceful backpacker girls sell sex all the way up and down the east coast to fund the travel.

You can get to Aussie from Europe, for considerably less than 2500 dollars, Try 500 GB pounds or equivalent Euros
In fact it's not that much more than it can cost to get to Cyprus at times ...hahaha!!!

Compared to the general mass of tourists to Aussie, the number of backpackers as you describe, is minuscule.
This is just another vindictive scare monger statement, that bares nothing to do with anything!!!

No.1 ,I doubt the Cypriot government could afford a man of my unique talents, heartlessness and ruthlessness. Cyprus lacks the resources required to support me with legions of administrative assistants to help me with my severe dyslexia. Cyprus will face five decades of triple digit inflation.

No.2, I would make a profit. I would harvest backpackers' organs and legalize slavery. Any passenger who complains about 5 euro Lattes loses a kidney for a first offense.

Come on re Larnacaman! Do travel economy class? I hope 2 million Backpackers invade Larnaca like locusts and eat out of your dumpsters and bludge meals of your local charities. Isn't Larnaca where all the mandies and gyftoi come from? The Turkish Army would not take the Larnacan wasteland if it was paid to.

when you compare prices you have to take like for like ,,,charter or otherwise ,,with Spain and sharm a lot of flights are charter, and small tourist companies buy say 6 seats every flight from easy jet or monarch and its a block booking for the season and they might only pay 30 pounds each seat they then sell it on for whatever they can. a friend of mine runs a company in glasgow and she pays for 6 seats a week to goa india and pays no more than 90 pounds per seat. i have personally bought 2 tickets return to goa plus accomadation for 100 pounds each BUT i have never had what i would call a bargin flying in or out of cyprus, and it makes no difference if you can afford it or not .it is the principle involved i hate being ripped off,

Talking to a Cypriot woman from the UK yesterday, down on the waterfront.

She had flown over with her two kids to visit her parents who have moved here having lived in the UK most of their lives. It was her first visit to them.

She said she paid just over £700 for the 3 return flights and will not be able to visit her parents very often but will probably send the kids on their own, or one at a time, to visit.

That's what I used to do for some years with my daughter when I had family living here - send her out for a holiday with them because the combined cost of two flights and the wages I'd lost by not working was much more than the cost of a complete holiday for both of us somewhere else. In fact the only two times we ever came out together, we booked a package holiday with Golden Sun (now demised) and didn't use the accommodation. The whole package was cheaper than any 'flight only' we could find. £199 each in total including airport transfers, taxes etc. Cheapest flights around at the time were about £250 each.

Quite a few people I know used to do this when visiting family or friends here and those living here would recommend it. I have a Cyp pal who works for Olympic Holidays and she would alert me to any bargains. About 3 yrs ago you could book a week in Pissouri Holiday Village for £199 in high season. That included flights, accom, and FOUR DAYS CAR HIRE!

Friends of mine came over to stay with me last year. They flew into Pafos on a package for an hotel near the harbour. 3 adults - just under £500.
