Nothern Cyprus Travel Feature in today's News of The World

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Gasman » Mon May 10, 2010 12:25 pm

If you google 'Holidays Northern Cyprus' you get tens of thousands of results. Can all these people really be flirting with criminality?

I think the RoC GOVERNMENT should make more noise about it if they are.

Why are so many estate agents (and even property advisers in mainstream newspapers) still saying it is safe to buy if the title is pre 74 or 'exchange' title?

Just read something interesting. That the Roc authorities submitted a draft law in response to the creation of the ‘Property Compensation, Exchange and Reinstatement Law’ in TRNC that, if passed, could result in up to four years imprisonment for any Greek Cypriot who actually applies for settlement to the TRNC based ‘Committee on Immovable Properties’.

I knew people had been strongly advised not to use the IPC but it's the first I've heard of this.

What a great blanket get out for the IPC.
The TRNC/TR sets it up, the ECHR approves it, the IPC gets no applications. It can't be proved that it isn't "an effective local remedy" if no-one applies.

How to shoot yourself in the foot without really trying.

If there are few applications, it proves that the problem is solved.

Any chance they can open a similar commission in the south for us?
