Cyprus Mail - The Politics of God

Can I respectfully suggest that Archbishop Chrysostomos concentrate on matters spiritual?

He is an Archbishop - not a politician or a businessman (though the latter is open to argument). His recent remarks on both the national problem and the Qatar business deal suggest he has his more interest in material than spiritual matters - how would he feel if President Christofias or MPs started issuing statements about Church affairs?

I'm sure he doesn't need me to remind him about Matthew 22:21 “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s”.

He seems to be muddling the two - I suggest he would better serve his exalted office by teaching his flock the benefits of love, brotherhood and understanding, and leave the politics and business to others.

AMEN to all that Rosie!

Like you and I Gasman, the man is free to say what he wants and people are free to take it or leave it.

Its not for you, I or Rosie to dictate what people can and can't say in a free country irrespective of their job, this is not Saudi Arabia.

If President Christofias or MPs want to issue statements about the Church and its affairs, let them ...
