The mass murders in Cyprus of 1000s and 10s of thousands of people at a time were committed by the Turkish invaders. People who collaborate with the invaders are traitors and they deserve to be treated accordingly.

I do not support the murder of any innocents, but the punishment of traitors who are anything but innocent. I support our right to protest against the invaders and their collaborators and demand justice and the liberation of our island.

Unfortunately this philosophy is also shared by lynch mobs who frequently get the wrong guy in their bloodlust for revenge. And that means the murder of innocents. We have to move away from this primative attitude.

Another issue is that columnists like Makarios who use his attention-seeking style in a place like Cyprus undermine the brave efforts of colleagues who put themselves at considerable risk elsewhere on the island, namely the north.

It is precisely because of the prejudicial effect on national 'identity' that I will not reveal my identity. Secondly, since I loathe the destructive and corrupting effects of nationalism I have no wish to give it the slightest help. Third, my supposed 'national' identity means nothing to me. What difference does the nationality of copperline make? Instead of debating his points of view in a civilised manner, pyrpolyser asked if he were Turkish! People like pyrpolyser do not fit in a modern society. They should be put on exhibit, in museums for people to take long looks at them.
