These rather disturbing news came as a surprise to me and other diaspora Greeks in Toronto. The link for the video clip is below. Tune in to 3:00 timeline of the player.

It does not surpise me that you are surpised ....
you have a television ..........
and even with your small mind it is not rocket science .............
(btw grump still alive ..no bikes each)

What? No bikes? Why?

Really, I've been watching both Greek news from Greece and Canadian news via internet. The Greek news don't say a word about default... while the Candians are certain about it. Who should we believe is telling the truth? Take a wild guess...

more people watched the greek riots than watched the uk election , even in the uk ,,

Correct!

But if I post anything pertaining to them, I am accused of being 'obsessed' with Greece?

No more obsessed than the rest of the world is.

Every Cyp TV channel is showing over and over the footage of those two terrified women on the balcony of the bank, with their faces blackened with smoke and soot.

Greece is even making it onto the first page of the online 'world' news on account of this.

Yet - according to some - we are supposed to ignore it and never mention it because it doesn't show their glorious motherland in a very good light?

Pathetic.

Dear Gasman,

For me, everyone & everything is "fair "game. Don't let them get to you... go ahead, lash away. Greeks, Turks, Brits... no matter.

Looking at the title of this thread, it occurs to me that it is a great pity that the Greeks don't have austerity measures in their 'veins' lol!

Thanks Gorgios. (Does that rhyme with 'gorgeous'?)

When in the UK I used to 'knock' the UK Govt and the system there. (It's a Brit national pastime 'innit?)

It really amuses me that some here seem to think it is OK to knock Turkey, the rest of the EU, 'foreigners' in general, the UK, the US, and even CYPRUS. But, woebetide anyone should, for a moment, knock Greece?

The animated response of GR is puzzling...

Do you think it's funny or true or both?

Hey Gasman, we live in a democratic society, a free country... we can "knock" at everything and... yes, even Cyprus. Why not? Greece is no exception either.

Problem is... when you do that... you might be called "names"... from others on CF, but it's OK. Let them type away their emotions... they live in a free country too!

Trying to decide whether the Greeks are 'exiting' or 'exciting' lol!

Going to snuggle down with the new puppy now and watch Lightning Thief - it's about someone who discovers they are the descendant of a Greek god ... saw that and thought of ...

The Greeks will never seize to exist... and excite! Man, I lived in Athens for 8 years, these guys know how to have a good time, the nightlife is something else, no relation to Cyprus nightlife (if any). Can they keep it up now? With empty pockets? Remains to be seen...

Enjoy the movie...
