I was at the Olympic stadium a few hours ago, and it is not derelict. The stadium is being used as it was before the Olympics, it was in fact built ten or so years before the Games. Major football matches, concerts, athletic events etc, were and are being held there all the time.

It is time to cut the exaggerated bullshit guys, normal bullshit is bad enough.

The 2007 Champions League Final was held there! :D

The Olympic Stadium has been used at various times as a home ground by the three major football clubs of Athens, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens. The record attendance of the stadium for a football match has been 75,263 in a clash between Olympiacos and Hamburg on November 3, 1983.

The stadium hosted the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final on May 23, 2007 between Milan and Liverpool, which was won 2-1 by the former. This stadium also hosted the 1994 UEFA Champions League Final also won by Milan, the 1983 European Cup Final as well as the 1987 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final.

The stadium was used as a concert venue by performers such as Tina Turner, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, George Michael, Shakira & Madonna. Madonna performed before a crowd of 75,637, making the Sticky & Sweet Tour the most successful concert ever held in Greece.

Good to hear the Stadium is still being made use of. I believe some of the other buildings built for the Olympics have been left unused. Read something about it yesterday, in an article about what a drain the Olympics are on any country who hosts them. How they are promised it will improve their fortunes, but inevitably ends up leaving them in debt.

Of course it is up to the country concerned to capitalise on the stuff they built for the Olympics. And Athens did get on with a lot of new and needed infrastructure and transport stuff at the time.
