Here in Larnaca too - but didn't last long. When I lived in Berks, UK, if you heard that noise it meant one of the criminally insane had escaped from Broadmoor up the road!

Montgomery took unconditional surrender of northwest germany and the Netherlands on May 4th
A day later Doenitz ordered all U boat activity to cease.
The Channel islands surrendered on May 8th
Forces on the Greek islands surrendered on 9th May
And the last group of german forces in prague didnt surrender until 12th May.
Eisenhower signed the document for the unconditional surrender of All german forces on May 8th
