These horrible riots were expected. The people feel cheated by their leaders. Corruption and tax evasion was never taken seriously for the past 36 years.
The ordinary hardworking Greek is paying the price, again.

Experts in the Americas are predicting something even more disturbing, a mass increase of Greeks immigrating to other countries for a better life. Especially young Greeks, the future of Greece. If this happens, the long term results would be even more painful than the crisis it self.

Brace yourself folks, we are witnessing the worst nightmare a country can bear.

Can I ask a "dumb" question here.??

Just what is it that these people in Greece are protesting about.??

As the saying goes "No Money, No Honey".!

The party is over. It has been over for the last two years, it's just that some have not yet woken up to the realities of what has been, what it is, and what's yet to come. I'm not just talking about the Greeks and Greece here, but by and large all those who has been on the binge with others "free money" at their disposal to do as they pleased with virtually zero accountability. Well, guess what people, the fucking party is over. Get used to it. It is time to pay for all your mistakes in thinking that the "gravy train" would just keep on rolling just to provide you with your "financial fixes" so that you can work less and make more, buy that house(s) that was going to be bigger and better than your friends and other family members, drive that hot car that you always wanted but couldn't afford it when you had to work for your money and had responsibilities to take care of.

But everything became possible to have the life of the Rich & Famous" when "free money" was passed to all those whom wanted it, given by your local friendly bank manager, and you thought it was your birthday again, and again, and again and again to receive such wonderful gifts with just a blink of an eye. It was your own version of the "groundhog day" with free money, money, money everywhere. Yeah right.! What morons.

They never heard of "What goes up must come down" before.! Really, they haven't. What Morons.! So now, all those who are protesting, it is time time to wake up and get back into the real world. It's time to roll your sleeves and start working for your fucking money again, and since you were on a such a binge in spending, you are going to have to work more for less now, because you were spending others money and not yours, and now they want it back.

You will work more and receive less for it. You had your fun, you impressed your friends with what a "high roller" you were, you had those wonderful holidays in the sun, but it's time for you to pay the bills. No you fucking moron, it was not free money and no, it was not your fucking birthday every morning when you woke up. You were in the Fantasy Land along with all the other morons who thought they had just discovered the "secrets to life's happiness". No you moron, what you should have discovered was, that your discover credit card was busting at it seams of being overloaded with debt.

Now, stop complaining by blaming others for your binges that you could not afford in the long run. Time to wake up and shut up and not fight in the streets just because you are now told to pay back all your "free money" you have gotten. The owners want it back, and they want it........NOW.!!

Why ask now when you've been asking dumb questions all this time. You pass your judgement on people and have no understanding of what caused it. What absolute bollox.

The rich have not paid their taxes and the chickens have come home to roost. Tax has to be collected properly from everybody. The poor always end up paying for the rich man's greed.
As per usual you blame the victims - the demonstrators. What's new?

Is the floor you are standing on today clean or dirty?

Three dead? And a couple of days ago a policeman set afire by a petrol bomb?

I was reading an article yesterday that claimed that most of the population accept that things will have to change and that drastic measures are needed.

It said that the 'rioters' were not representative of the average Greek citizen, that they were no different to the football hooligans who jump at any chance to cause a disturbance.

From what I can see on the TV today, they must have a hell of a lot of football hooligans there.

If you had a brain, you'll be fucking dangerous.!

How's all the Haram rent money coming along that you are collecting from renting out GCs properties to the Illegal Alien settlers in the north.??

Lack of full Income Tax receipts from the rich would not add up to 300 Billion Euros to cause a such a budget deficit. There aren't enough rich people in Greece to cause that kind of a deficit by them not paying their full taxes.

This is not an isolated case as you seem to think it is only Greece has problems. California can't meet it's budget either along with most of the states in the USA when CA has the worlds 8th largest GDP it it were a country. Many countries in the world are in the same situation or will be sooner or later. The problem does not just lie with the rich not paying enough taxes. The problems lie with everyone who has been on the financial spending binge for the last 10 years, that's all.!

A rather harsh response from Kikapu, but rightfully so. I agree 100%.

The Greeks must realize, "freeloading" cannot go on forever... this is what happens when people buy stuff that couldn't afford in the first place. Their government could have regulated credit cards, loans etc but they had no time for that. They were busy spending truck loads of foreign money for their own enjoyment hence the mess we have today.

If you google 'rioting in Greece', it's plain to see that they have a long history of rioting about anything they don't like. And they certainly don't like the 'austerity' package.

In fact on the foreign office website giving advice to travellers, it always carries a warning about the frequency of civil disturbances, demonstrations etc. in Greece

In fact Foreign & Commonwealth Office have just updated their Greece Travel Advice to include the news of the three deaths today:

# There is a general threat from terrorism, which has been on the increase. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. Calling 999 from a UK mobile in Greece will also automatically transfer you to the Greek emergency services. On 28 March a bomb exploded outside the Greek Association for Business Management building in Kato Patissia in Athens. One local boy was killed in the explosion.

# Greek Authorities have confirmed three fatalities at a bank on 5 May during demonstrations in central Athens.

# You should continue to exercise extreme caution around public demonstrations and protests in major urban centres in subsequent days.

# Visitors should expect regular strikes and demonstrations throughout Greece during April and May. Strikes and demonstrations are sometimes called at short notice and can cause disruption to public transport in and out of Greece (including air travel). See the Local Travel section of this advice for dates of major pre-planned strikes.

# A 24 hour strike by private and public sector workers in Greece will take place on 5 May. There will be no flights to or from any Greek airport during this period.

Ain't going to help them none if they cripple their own Tourist Industry.
