Go to the European Dept for the EHIC card in your local hospital (that is were we aquired ours)
If you are non-cypriot then you will need to have your passport and fill in a different form about your nationality etc, return it and your card should be ready in a day or so.
Cyprus has to provide you with one ONLY if you are now resident here and IF you are under pension age, over pension age, and you apply to your own country once more to issue it.
They are issued yearly here as people,s circumstances invariably change.
Btw I did,nt have to pay anything and as its an EU directive which provides money for the scheme, you should,nt pay for it either. Its a free service to enable EU citizens to be treated short term wherever in Europe they are, then retrieve the funds from that country. Mainly for visitors/tourits only but are guided to be used for a short period on arriving to live in another EU country. Possibly 3 to six months. If for example you visit the UK without a Cyprus issued one (if under pension age) and need emergeny treatment then your UK issued one that you may have will not be valid.
