An unexpected phone call received at 01.15 am (one hour ago)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

My next door neighbour was a policeman. He called them in I think. They sent ONE policeman to deal with this mob - he looked like a little fat Super Mario! I don't have photos of the worst of it because the same policeman neighbour was quick to tell me to 'put my camera away' before they spotted me getting them on film or they might go nuts!

They sometimes threw bottle bombs (molotovs?) I couldn't believe it. And one of the biggest disturbances there was on the Water Festival Holiday (Kataklysmos?) where it started by them chucking water from buckets on the back of their jeeps and pickups (at other vehicles and passers by) and then turned into a really nasty violent mob incident as they started chucking the metal buckets as well and then rocks and what have you.

I don't miss Limassol AT ALL lol!

Very interesting. An off duty police officer witnesses distrubance and takes no action, instead calles the police who then send one man. On top of that the said policeman advices you not to take any photos.

I wonder where exactly they train these policemen? or do they get any training at all.
It sounds as though they are making a huge effort to get to the bottom of this one.

This reminds me of an incident in 72, whem my father had an accident in a car in full view of a policeman and the policeman refused to give evidence against the GC car driver. How the hell can a policeman refuse to give evidence of something they have witnessed.

So, lets look at some facts here Yfred. Your father has a road accident and this accident is witnessed by a GC police officer. The other driver is a GC and the PO refuses to give evidence. Right so far? OK, then this begs the question, is your father a TC? If so then there's your answer.

Bloody hell how did you know?

But can one of our learned GC cousins from the southern lands enlighten us under what circumstances is a police officer allowed not to give evidence? If the situation was reversed would our siad police officer be as shy?

That would be very helpfull.

I had a very disturbing phone call in July 1974, my family were telling me the Turks were landing and killing thousands of GCs, raping very young girls were evicting hundreds of thousands of people from their homes.

I couldn't speak to anyone in authority, (UN/UK/US) because they helped them there in the first place.

This was pure racism and pathetic, we have no means of compensation and our missing are still missing and no insurance company to pay us jack shit.

All this because we were GCs.

Seems you easily forget your shit, but we don't.

Anyway, these mindless idiots (APOEL) would have attacked anyone who was not APOEL. Your mate was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

P.S. This must have been so shocking for you, so that in 1 hour you felt the need to post it here immediately. Propoganda or what!

I don't think violence justifies violence.. In 2010 it is right down stupid to bash anyone at the football because they happened to be driving in a car marked with plates from the illegal regime that holds 1/3 of the country under occupation of foreign troops.

This road accident was most definitely the fault of the GC, hence the PO refusal to give evidence.

If the roles were reversed our police officer would have done the decent thing and would have given evidence, of this I'm 100% certain. The only reason the GC PO refused was purely due to the fact that he hates anything Turkish. Our GC friends should acknowledge the fact that the people they possess so much hatred for are really decent, kind, generous, forgiving and quite accommodating bunch of people.

We know how "fair" TC policeman are from the time they helped the Brits to enslave the GCs until the present when they have 43,000 Turkish troops helping them maintain their racist ethnic cleansing and apartheid of our island.

TC policemen? Punch and Judy!

Hmm, Yes nothing like the tc police to provide fair treatment to a 63 year old GC.

Two wrongs dont make one right,DT..Those TC police who mistreated your father -in-law ought to be prosecuted with full force of the law..And people are right to expect justice when a misjustice is carried out...Ethnic backgrounds should not come into it..But,alas,we are talking about Cyprus here...Ethnicity reigns supreme... :(

It's not racist considering the damage and destruction you have caused in Cyprus and elsewhere, and also considering the fact that it is the TCs and Turkey who are excluding other Cypriots from enjoying their country.
