An unexpected phone call received at 01.15 am (one hour ago)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

He was freakin out, he was in the one Greek Cypriot Police Station in Nicosia, and he cannot speak either Greek or English, so he wanted me to be a translator and provide communication between him and the police officer.

First, he explained the incident that he just had. He incidentally crossed inside of Apoel fans around Coca-Cola round about and he got attacked by some of them. His car's rear and side windows and also outside mirros had been broken. Especially one red motorcycle (two person on it, driver's helmet was white and blue) attacked him hatefully. He told me that he shocked, very scared and immediately drove into the nearest police station and saved his life.

So, I talked to police officer and made translation what they both said. Officer and my friend understood each other about some subjects (damage compensation procedure with insurance company, documentation etc.) and he just came to the north side.

You will probably see this incident tomorrow's or following days T/C newspapers. These kind of incidents still continue and nobody takes initiative. I hope, criminals will be found this time. This is not just hooliganism, this is more than hooliganism, and this is definitely racism!

By the way, after this bad news of course Viva Omonia!

Yeah, pull the other one. And Bir jumps in blaming bad police treatment when nothing of that sort was even mentioned. A bunch of lying bastards. How typical tactics of the TCs. You can't pull these over us anymore. We have become immune to it.

Where did I mention bad GC police treatment,kafenes...???I questioned whether the police can or cannot protect the TCs in the South...You called me "a lying bastard"...You are way out of line ,mate..I expect an apology...Or you too will be exposed as a racist ,two faced Cypriot...

Im sorry, I meant to say VP.
The complaint is against the GC police not the hooligans which are the same all over the world. Why did the police traet this victim so badly?

Of course the police can protect the TCs!

TCs that actually live in the RoC controlled areas don't seem to be complaining. Furthermore, it is mostly GCs who are victims of Football Hooliganism and every now and then, some TCs have been caught in the crossfire. There is nothing much the police can do when a group of thugs go on the rampage when the Police are not present. They can't be everywhere at any given time. But they do respond as quick as they can, and deal with the situation.

When I lived in Limassol, a crowd of AEL fans went on the rampage in the street right below my apartment. They indiscriminately smashed vehicle rear windows (having first nicked bits of garden furniture from gardens nearby and ripped bits of wood off them). They even all seemed to be 'on the same side' as there did not appear to be fighting 'among them'.

Another time I returned home and couldn't reach my apartment because they had blocked the road - sitting in it with big metal drums and throwing bottles and cans of beer up in the air and chanting their 'song'.

When I eventually got in, I asked my GC next door neighbour 'did they lose then?' he replied 'The match doesn't start for another 2 hours'!!

They are just THUGS - found the world over. In the case of these thugs, their 'football' gives them the excuse, but they'd find another if they didn't have the football IMHO.

What were the brave roc police doing at the time, playing tavla or spasra?

YFred I do have some photos of this somewhere - it was going on right below my 1st floor verandah.

My next door neighbour was a policeman. He called them in I think. They sent ONE policeman to deal with this mob - he looked like a little fat Super Mario! I don't have photos of the worst of it because the same policeman neighbour was quick to tell me to 'put my camera away' before they spotted me getting them on film or they might go nuts!

They sometimes threw bottle bombs (molotovs?) I couldn't believe it. And one of the biggest disturbances there was on the Water Festival Holiday (Kataklysmos?) where it started by them chucking water from buckets on the back of their jeeps and pickups (at other vehicles and passers by) and then turned into a really nasty violent mob incident as they started chucking the metal buckets as well and then rocks and what have you.

I don't miss Limassol AT ALL lol!

Very interesting. An off duty police officer witnesses distrubance and takes no action, instead calles the police who then send one man. On top of that the said policeman advices you not to take any photos.

I wonder where exactly they train these policemen? or do they get any training at all.
It sounds as though they are making a huge effort to get to the bottom of this one.

This reminds me of an incident in 72, whem my father had an accident in a car in full view of a policeman and the policeman refused to give evidence against the GC car driver. How the hell can a policeman refuse to give evidence of something they have witnessed.

So, lets look at some facts here Yfred. Your father has a road accident and this accident is witnessed by a GC police officer. The other driver is a GC and the PO refuses to give evidence. Right so far? OK, then this begs the question, is your father a TC? If so then there's your answer.

I've lost my quote by that unique TC who explains quite adequately how most TCs are lying and exaggerating buggers ... :?
