You can have a bit of fun with these.

A good trick is to reply saying your name is Juan King and you can send money very quickly. All you need is a photo of them as you really like the sound of them and think that romance could be in the air. If they could just send a photo with a sign saying " I love Juan King" you will send the money.

Or you love chickens and run a chicken farm. If they send a photo of themselves holding a chicken giving it a big kiss you know that they love chickens too and will send the money ASAP.

I once sent a terse, sarcastic response to one of these signed 'Regards, Micky Mouse'. Believe it or not, I got a reply starting 'Dearest Micky Mouse'!

Seriously, though, if everybody sent replies to these things, even blank ones, this would waste these scammers a lot of time, wouldn't it? They have got to open everything, haven't they?

The problem with that is that they then know they have a valid email which they can sell to every other bastard out there!

Fair point. I know the standard advice is not to reply. I wish there was something we could do to fight back a bit.
