and that the Tories are going to win

because no-one wants our borders kept wide open....our own men and women need jobs.....

Whats the Lib Dems policy on Cyprus? I have always thought they were more closer to the idea of upgrading the TRNC and cementing partition...

They don't have a policy. When I challenged Clegg some month's ago, after that bitch Sarah Ludford made a pigs ear of things post-Orams, he umed and ahed like a lily-livered Liberal.

It sounds like Baroness Ludford is under the influence of Meral Ece.

But I have to say, I attended a meeting in Hendon where Lib Dem candidate Matthew Harris was speaking. When asked about Cyprus he said he thinks the TRNC should be recognised.

Another misguided "Liberal" Jew who thinks carving up Cyprus can set a precedent for Israel/Palestine.

So why do you support them, Malapapa?

I support LibDem because I can't bring myself to vote Labour or Tory (both of whom supported Blair's Iraq war). Like many, after the war, the banking crisis and MP's expenses fiasco, I am disillusioned with British politics generally. However, the increased popularity of the LibDems following the TV debates has energised the election, creating an interesting possibility which could bring about a shake-up of British politics: a hung parliament with LibDems holding the balance of power.

I believe the British electoral system badly needs reform to ensure all votes matter; rather than only those in key marginals resulting in a few tens of thousands of people ultimately deciding alternate periods of Tory/Labour dictatorships for the rest of us.

I am hopeful that, in a hung parliament, the LibDems will secure some form of proportional representation as a condition for cooperating with the largest party in terms of seats (hopefully Labour, minus Gordon Brown as leader, who again, as a condition of LibDem support, could be forced to stand down).

and why do you put Liberal within quotes? Is he or isn't he a Liberal candidate?

He is a Liberal candidate but supporting ethnic cleansing, whether in Palestine or Cyprus, ("land for peace" as they call it) is not what I'd describe as a "liberal" philosophy, especially when the land in question is not yours to give away.

Without wishing to split hairs, you did not put "liberal" in quotes, but "Liberal", potentially giving the spin that he is not a real Lib Dem. We are talking political parties here, not political philosophy. But, be that as it may, the main point is that in the name of electoral reform, you support a party that (a) has not clearly stated their policy w.r.t. Cyprus (BTW, the fact that Clegg did not give an answer when you challenged him does not necessarily mean they dont have a policy, it could be that he didn't want to say what it is) (b) it puts forward candidates (at least one we know about) that openly and publicly support the recognition of TRNC and (c) numbers Ludford, an active supporter and promoter of TRNC, amongst its prominent MEP members.

Perhaps you did not challenge Clegg strongly enough.

we have given Bilions away to people from other countries in benefits who should never have been given them

example.....an imigrant comes here to the uk to work...lowers the basic wages...says that he/she has children back home.....and then gets family tax credits on top of their wages to send back to the eastern block

tax credits where put into place to help uk families on lower incomes to manage.......not for all and sundry to come here and take

a family I know.....came here 20 years ago from hungary....they worked and settled here.....they have just brought over their mother to live with them.......I have no problems with their mother coming here to live..but within 6 months.....this lady was given.....DLA.....Attendance Allowance....Housing Benefit......and they where given Carers Allowance for taking care of her.........now this is a lady that has never been in the uk before..and doesn't speak one word of english.....and she has never paid a penny into our economy

and she is NOT alone...there are 1000's and 1000's of people comming into the UK just for our benefits

yearly on this one

and NO I am NOT racist at all

and I have completely bought into the 50's and 60's multi racial society

but

all I want is fairness

my own husband was seriously injured 22 months ago...and is extremely ill

can he get any of the benefits that he has paid into for the last 30 odd years NO

can we move to a hotter climate within the Euro zone........without our own money to keep us afloat so that he can have better health......NO

we will have to pay our own way..to get him the warmer climate that he needs..and that's ok by me.I understand that other countries can't keep people who have NOT paid into their system

so why can't the uk adopt the same principles that other countries in Europe have adopted?

it's a one way curve ball that has been placed on the UK and it is crippling us ALL financially

and for the future for our children and their children

The problem is in the uk you can get benefits , Cyprus is right look after Cypriots first, but in the uk immigrants can recieve benefits even if you never paid any tax or national insurance ,

I have no problem with people comming into the uk and working hard on jobs that need filling

I have a problem with migrants taking local jobs off local workers.......and for them ..........then to take uk benefits as well on top of taking much needed uk jobs

as retired people from the uk.....are still being paid their pensions etc etc by the UK government to live in Cyprus......and are NOT being paid by the Cypriot government......so they are bringing money into the country. and economy.....not taking it out
