They don't have a policy. When I challenged Clegg some month's ago, after that bitch Sarah Ludford made a pigs ear of things post-Orams, he umed and ahed like a lily-livered Liberal.

It sounds like Baroness Ludford is under the influence of Meral Ece.

But I have to say, I attended a meeting in Hendon where Lib Dem candidate Matthew Harris was speaking. When asked about Cyprus he said he thinks the TRNC should be recognised.

Another misguided "Liberal" Jew who thinks carving up Cyprus can set a precedent for Israel/Palestine.

I got to say that I would of picked Lib Democrat if I was eligible to vote, up until Omer's post where they seem to offer a lot of support for the occupation regime.
This would have forced me to change and vote for the Tories instead.

I had a bit of a chuckle when I saw many London Cypriots working on Labor campaigns and offering their support to a Party that has positively given Britain one of its worst Governments ever. I mean how stupid can anyone get? Vote for Gordon Brown? You got to be kidding!!!!

Will you be changing from Lib Democrat to Tories now that you know that the Lib Democrats support the occupation regime in Cyprus? :?

Omer Seyhan, thank you for the info. I for one was not aware of it 8)

Paphitis, very good question. You hit the nail on the head. 8)

So come on, Malapapa, will you be changing from Lib Dem now that you know that they support the occupation regime in Cyprus? :?

They don't, as a matter of policy - see above in red. Individuals, mainly of Jewish origin, appear to, for reasons already explored.

The LibDem policy on Cyprus would be no different to either of the other two parties. I am not voting LibDem because of their policy (or lack of) on Cyprus.

So why do you support them, Malapapa?

I support LibDem because I can't bring myself to vote Labour or Tory (both of whom supported Blair's Iraq war). Like many, after the war, the banking crisis and MP's expenses fiasco, I am disillusioned with British politics generally. However, the increased popularity of the LibDems following the TV debates has energised the election, creating an interesting possibility which could bring about a shake-up of British politics: a hung parliament with LibDems holding the balance of power.

I believe the British electoral system badly needs reform to ensure all votes matter; rather than only those in key marginals resulting in a few tens of thousands of people ultimately deciding alternate periods of Tory/Labour dictatorships for the rest of us.

I am hopeful that, in a hung parliament, the LibDems will secure some form of proportional representation as a condition for cooperating with the largest party in terms of seats (hopefully Labour, minus Gordon Brown as leader, who again, as a condition of LibDem support, could be forced to stand down).

Hatter wrote:and why do you put Liberal within quotes? Is he or isn't he a Liberal candidate?

He is a Liberal candidate but supporting ethnic cleansing, whether in Palestine or Cyprus, ("land for peace" as they call it) is not what I'd describe as a "liberal" philosophy, especially when the land in question is not yours to give away.

the uk disaster that was brought in by New Labour....will be multiplied

he wants an amnestity for ALL illegal Imigrants..so that they can become legal. citizens..........over 1/2 a million of them.......who are then open to bring their families over with them then as they will be UK citizens with full rights to our benefits and everything else..that we have worked our socks off for

more stress on all of our NHS......and other systems once again

and then because he has sent the message out that the UK is a land of FREE for all...we will be even more inundated by folks crossing all of Europe to get to the land of "plenty"

problem is

There is no way Clegg will get in. Such are the vagaries of the first-past-the-post system it would require the LibDems to secure around 41% of the vote. Labour could do it with 35%, the Tories with around 38%.

Given the current opinion polls only a Tory majority is a possibility, though still unlikely. At the moment, we're looking at a hung parliament, with Clegg being king maker.

I have a funny feeling

that

folks are not as un made up as they apear to be

and that the Tories are going to win

because no-one wants our borders kept wide open....our own men and women need jobs.....

and every one knows that we are in a complete and utter financial mess because of the Blair.....Brown ....13 year give it away mindset

Had the pleasure of being on Excercise in Europe with Princess Patricias rifles some years back.
What a great bunch of guys they were, but they were real Canadians.......

Yeah, you are right. The Canadians are using Cyprus as a "bridge" to Europe. I was referring to the Canadian Peace Keeping force stationed in Cyprus for many years... it's reduced down to just 1 guy.

The Canadians WWII veterans were greeted again by the Dutch a couple of days ago, for liberating Holland from the German rule. A pity really, giving up on Cyprus, but the high budget for maintaining the troops in CY was a hard pill to swallow by the Canuck taxpayers...
