Cypriot Nationalism can it exist now?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

A nationalist shouldn't mince his words. What are we, liberals? There are more than two Cypriot communities.

More from the nationalists...

Each nation has the right to maintain its own identity. The right of India to remain Indian, the right of China to remain Chinese, the right of Pakistan to remain Pakistani and the right of Saudi Arabia to remain Saudi does not mean that any of these nations “hate” anybody else.

All it means is that they wish to preserve their identity and national existence.

This is all the Cypriot National Party seeks for Cyprus – the right to be Cypriot.

This is not an extreme demand – it is actually just perfectly normal and completely in line with the rights granted to every other nation and with international law.

All the other parties shy away from this issue, because they are the ones who have caused the problem in the first place.

Only the Cypriot National Party has the reasonable, sensible, fair and just policis which will guarantee that Cyprus remains Cypriot.

Is there really a Cypriot National Party (CNP)?

Their ideas sound good to me...I would happily vote for them.

• The CNP will take steps to promote the traditional Cypriot concepts of family values and hospitality by ensuring that they are taught in school.

• The CNP will oppose the intrusion of non-Cypriot and alien cultural influences which undermine our traditional value systems.

• The CNP will encourage the teaching of Cypriot history, culture and traditions at schools.

• The CNP will set up a Cypriot National Lottery and ensure funding is spent on projects which enhance Cypriot culture, rather than degrade it.

• The CNP will introduce formal holidays for Saint Barnabas and Saint Andreas

• The CNP will take legislative steps to protect traditional Cypriot coffee shops, which will include tax concessions, smoking rooms under strict supervision, and a lowering of tax on traditional Cypriot coffee served in coffee shops.

Cypriot foreign policy must be driven by one guiding principle alone – to serve Cypriot interests above all else. This iron principle will be strictly enforced by a Cypriot National Party government. We would have no quarrel with any nation that does not threaten Cypriot interests. In this regard, a CNP government would:

- Reach an accord with Turkey whereby they will agree to take back their excess population which is currently colonising this country, in exchange for an ironclad guarantee that Cyprus will not interfere in the political affairs of Turkey or Middle East; and

- Abolish the British sovereign bases, remove the influence on Cypriot armed forces by Greece or Turkey, and maintain an independent foreign policy of our own, and not a spineless subservience to Turkey, Greece, UK, USA, EU, the ‘international community’, or any other country.

Well if the same guiding principle were to be adhered to in Germany right now - that would be Greece's hope of a bailout down the crapper. Because the German PEOPLE in the main are outraged about it.

A CNP government will reject the idea that Cyprus must be obliged to subsidise the incompetence and corruption of Third World states by supplying them with financial aid or loans.

Only once poverty and deprivation amongst Cypriot people has been eliminated, can any thought be given to foreign aid — and even then, a CNP government would link foreign aid with a voluntary resettlement policy, in terms of which those nations taking significant numbers of people back to their homelands will need cash to help absorb those returning. The millions of Cypriot pounds saved every year by this policy would be reallocated to vital services in Cyprus.
