Christofias - Eroglu The new talks

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Christofias - Eroglu The new talks

Postby georgios100 » Thu Apr 29, 2010 8:25 pm

We all know the RoC positions when it comes to the Cyprob. Our positions are clear. Lately Christofias offered unthinkable compromises while Talat was sitting across the table. But the tables have turned. A new "negotiator" is sitting in Talat's chair. Eroglu. He wants to review whatever was discussed/agreed upon so far. Unexpectedly, he fired Ntektas from the negotiating team, realizing the mistake he made... perhaps he is asking for sympathy.

So, what is Eroglu offering? Or should I say, what is Eroglu not offering?

Would it be fair to say Eroglu is wasting his time & ours, by keep talking with nothing to offer? Does he really believe he can do "better" than Talat?

The new talks are bound to fail from the start unless someone knows something I don't... but what? Perhaps our fellow TCs on this board have inside info to share with us, that Eroglu might bring to the table.

So were the 'old' ones according to most GCs on this forum.

You are right. Cyprob keeps a lot of people busy... from both sides. The sad thing about all this.... they are spending taxpayer money for nothing... in this case... talking.

And what would then be 'special' about Cyprus on the world stage? Almost the only time it ever gets a mention in world news is in relation to some new development in the neverending 'talks'. The last time it hit front page of world news was the announcement of the Erogulu victory.

Come to that, what would the die hards find to talk about if the 'problem' ever was solved?

I think Christofias needs to give bottom lines to both Eroglu and UN.

1/ BBF
2/ One Fedaration
3/ No confederation
4/ right of return unless is by choice
5/ fairer vote on shared presidency (perhaps based on party) - if an AKEL GC president is voted in by people then an AKEL TC to president to take up the rotating presidency post
6/ 50,000 settlers to acquire RoC citizenship
