A bit like the glut of very expensive cars and boats bought by the Cypriots prior to going into the Euro!!If all those moneyed Greeks had paid tax on their earnings ( I use the word "earnings" loosly)then Greece would probably not be bankrupt today! Cyprus take note and all countries that hide their cash under the bed to avoid paying tax!

Only 100,000 a year Palio, my cousin was in the Sunday Times rich list a few years ago but of course being a "Super Cypriot" he no longer mixes with poorer relatives because - to quote Harry Enfield - "I'm considerably much richer than yaou"

It has been the law in the UK that you have to attend school until you are 15 or 16 for many years now. College is not compulsory. There are also strict laws relating to minimum age for working. So I still don't understand why those who fled to England didn't go to school.

So Basically England has been very good for Cypriots? those that went and settled there that is?
Many of them settled there and did very well.
Im so pleased to hear it - one hears so much negativity here about the English and England.
I often thought that so much of the slagging off of ordinary people in England was unwarrented, as when the Survivors and those fleeing persecution at the hands of Russian Butchers during the Hungarian Uprising of 1956 arrived here they then, as now had nothing but respect for the country that took them in and gave them the opportunity of restarting life anew.
It will be interesting when the offspring of a Greek speaking Cypriots daugher who my wife went to youth club with, comes over to visit relatives and stays with us for a time, she wants to visit her parents house in the karpaz area and we are taking her.
Then perhaps perceptions can be discussed in a friendly atmosphere.

Palio 100,000 £s or Euros a year would be enough for me and most on this forum I suspect, but not enough for greedy "Super Cypriots"
