‘Stay away from the IPC’

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

‘Stay away from the IPC’

Postby YFred » Thu Apr 29, 2010 5:33 pm

‘Stay away from the IPC’ is the advice of the roc to its population.

http://www.cyprus-mail.com/cyprus/stay- ... c/20100429

So the question is, what if after 2 years only about a thousand applied to the TRNC IPC and all got resolved to the satisfaction of the applicants.

What is the ECHR likely to conclude from this scenario?

Are they going to say problem solved or are they going to say what the patriots are hoping it will say?

In 2 years, 1000 applied, all got satisfied, ECHR will say---->Great
In 2 years, 1000 applied, 500 got satisfied, ECHR will say---->Great
In 2 years, 1000 applied, 100 got satisfied, ECHR will say---->hhmmm, at least I got rid of 100 headaches, 900 still left
In 2 years, 1000 applied, 5 got satisfied, ECHR will say---->Damn, those Turks.
In 2 years, 1000 applied, 0 got satisfied, ECHR will say---->Damn, those Turks.

Now which is the most likely possibility?

Warning:I have a lot of "Πεεεεεε" for incoherence and more for nonsense.

 How many?

:? The ECHR can only comment on cases brought to its court otherwise it has no opinion. Maybe you’re confusing it with the UNSC or the UNGA…

You missed the point as per usual, read it again?

Working for the goal of "non-compromise we'll take the lot and bury our transgressions without culpability", there is a strong motivation to mute the success of the IPC and there-by work to undermine the reasoning of setting up a similar commission in the south. The RoC could not take the pressure as they have hoodwinked their public for years when it comes to provide TCs restitution for the utility of their properties. Nothing in them coffers. Can you imagine that mess hitting the fan!

Lying, cheating disgusting RoC.

The RoC will look even more the problem child of Cyprus if the North is resolving issues and the South remains intransigent. Apparently there has been an increase in the use of the IPC - that means people are having their issues resolved. If only that were so in the South.

I am noticing more and more the use of the words 'intransigent' and 'intransigence' in connection with the RoC wherever I read anything about the Cyprus problem or the current talks.

I think there is a danger that the way the RoC is perceived 'abroad' is changing and not in their favour.

In the same way I notice that the Annan Plan (and the RoC rejection of it) is often not referred to as 'the Annan Plan', but instead as a 'Peace Plan', or 'Reunification' and the RoC being said to have 'voted against Reunification' or 'voted against the Peace Plan'.

Hardly anybody on the planet (outside of Cyprus and Cypriots) know anything much at all about the history of the 'Cyprus Problem' and it's obvious what impression the above creates in the minds of those who are just learning about it.

There seems to be quite a lot of row raging about anyone not putting TRNC in 'quotes', but I never see anyone objecting to it being reported that the RoC 'rejected the Peace Plan' or 'voted against Reunification' and it is hardly ever explained WHY they did.

My view is that I cannot see the ECHR changing their mind and deciding to devote a lot of their man hours to sorting out long standing Cypriot property problems while the situation in Cyprus remains 'peaceful' inasmuch as neither side is killing the other and especially when they have much larger issues to deal with. Issues that must be much higher up the Agenda.

And it is not unusual to have an insistence in place that any LOCAL REMEDIES available must be exhausted before you can take matters further and higher up.

"Though the Council agreed on people staying away from the commission, no alternative was offered for legal recourse now that the ECHR’s official stance is in support of the IPC."

So just what is the Alternative for the long suffereing Refugees - none appears to have been offered.
Are we back to - do nothing get nothing/lose nothing policies?
Is it correct that applications or claims should be registered with the IPC by 2011...
someone will clarify this point no doubt.

What a nonsense!

Perhaps you don't know what it means law of necessity because of war....

The so called committee set up by Turkey
a)never compensated anyone for the loss of use.
b)compensated just a handful of people for actually buying their properties at ridiculously low prices.
c)In one case the transaction involved exchanging properties of Evkaf, as if they had authority over evkafs properties.
d)In only one case they returned the property but the owner never returned.

The RoC does not need any committee because it recognizes FULLY the right to property and it has courts that can force it. In fact there have been a lot of cases so far that they were settled, to which for obvious reasons they keep secret.

And what compromises are you talking about? Set up committees that will deal with exchange of properties left behind by TCs that do not even match 1/20th in value of the GC properties in the occupied?

So far GC people who applied to that committe were desperate poor people who needed the money. Those who target the ECHR are actually rich people and I guarantee you not even one will settle anything with this cheapy committe.

In the end all of them will end up to ECHR and this will question the effectiveness of that committee.

Perhaps you don't understand what a responsibility the ECHR have loaded on Turkey. You cannot claim effectiveness with just a ridiculous 5%. To prove effectiveness you have to be on the 90%+ scale.

Be my guest!

But, what is the cut off date for applying to this committee?

Guess you missed my point - get your house in order before preaching to others right or wrong. What faith do TCs have the RoC can provide compensation for our losses - NONE that's why they will not set-up a commission in the south. How public are such records? If you are a GC taxpayer, surely you'd want to know the liabilities of your govt?

They know TCs will not accept the solution on their terms so they utilise this as a means to avoid facing up to the problem of their liabilities - that is why they link the 2 together. Lying, cheating, discusting RoC.
