How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

students parades

Postby cypezokyli » Tue Jul 26, 2005 2:13 pm

as i am currently in east germany i have the chance to meet with many students from the ex-eastern block.

when i mentioned that we take parts in parades on national days their reply was: do you still have a communist dictatorship in cyprus?

ofcource the one thing we never had in cyprus was communism.

with some search though i found out that in greece for example student parades began ...surprise surprise!! during the metaxa dictatorship.

do u thing that it should be part of school education having students walking in a militaristic way? isnt a school celebration enough?

by the way , do you have student parades in the north?

Mr cypezokyli

I do not go in much for parades, but from what I have seen on TV it would appear that youngsters do get involved in National Parades. I think it's the equivalent of the boy scouts and girl guides kind of thing.

But this is in conjunction with other representatives of Civil Society.

They do not hold marches on their own.
