Cyprus issue cannot be solved with concessions: Dervis Eroglu

27 April 2010

Nicosia. The Cyprus issue cannot be solved with concessions.

These provocative words belong to Dervis Eroglu, the new president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognized only by Ankara, Cypriot Phileleftheros daily writes on its website.

In an interview with the Turkish Cypriot newspaper Kibris Eroglu says the concessions Northern Cyprus made at the time of the Annan plan are not on the agenda.

The leader of the Turkish Cypriots says further that since an agreement has not been reached, he will raise for a new discussion all issues in the six chapters of the direct negotiations.

The question should be directed at our political leaders who were telling you that Denktash was an angel compared to Talat (and you believed them).

He is only doing to Muhtar X what Muhtar X did to Talat. Back to square one running around in circles like a headless chicken.

Cowboy I have liked your recent posts, you have come more balanced and that is what we need in cyprus.

in relation to the question, did you know the rotating presidency was in exchange for the the vice president's vito? so that in itself was a compromise from both parties.

What both sides need to do is stop listening to their sides propaganda and solve the Cyprus problem.....The past needs to be put to the side for now, a true compromise is for both to wipe the slate clean and move towards a solution...based on a long lasting true Federal Republic, with two constituent states.

Then you are grossly misinformed. Both VP and President still hold a right of veto in the rotating presidency.

The President has given serious practical concessions in this process and talat responded with a demand for 70m citizenships for Turkish citizens and a split FIR of this vast island.

Shove that up your pipe yfred and quit talking rubbish.
