How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

But you can call any number in Cyprus via the UN telephone center and that won't cost you anything.

You can also call dialling ++357 for Roc numbers ++(Turkey) for the occupied. This costs a bit i think 20 cents per minute?

After all the discussions why is it that TCs cannot pick up a landline phone or a mobile and call somebody in the south from the north. What is it the the roc is afraid of?

I cannot call TRNC numbers on my Cyta mobile. I sometimes get the message 'this call is not allowed'.

Skype works just fine however.

Under this protocol or agreement both sides are cooparating against the crimes. We must be very happy about this. at least they are doing good job for both side interest and safety. I hope soon they can agree to solve the communication problem between both side and both side mobile phones can work as well.

You are quite right Halil . Such circumstances require common sense not political point scoring.

And yet it is acceptable for the EU that TCs who are her citizens should have to trade under these conditions.

Do you recognise the legitimacy of the TRNC?

If not, perhaps you might consider showing some sensitivity, and doing people here the courtesy of referring to it either in inverted commas, as northern Cyprus, or any other such politically neutral term. The term TRNC is offensive to many, if not most of those who participate in the Cyprus Forum; and for very good reason.

Pyro,
pls tell me how u can talk, u are in north now. u have a mobile phone with u.
u got sick.....
u would like to make phone call to your doctor ! u are some where no one is around.
above one applies to u , if u have a sim card from south. But if u have a sim card from UK or other EU countries your phone will work.Doesn't matter where are u.
(Similar thing works for me as well if i am at south)

my point was our leaders are not capable to solve this humanitarian issue yet. Talks...talks good for nothing. Because lots of idiots around them ...if we do like that we recognise them.... yes we have been recognised ....lab..lab...lab.... and we are the ones who suffers.... world just laughing us.

Who do you think did not want to solve that little problem Halil? Do you think Talat would not want to solve it? or do you think Muhtar X may be against it?
It has to be one of them, I don't believe it's both.

Why not make the north same code (357) as the rest of the RoC. It is after all a RoC and a EU territory. It solves all the problems. If the north is complaining that by having Turkey's code officially will not mean recognition, then the same can be said, by having the RoC's code, the north does not need to recognise the south. Just one more benefit the north can get from the RoC, just like RoC passports, Medical services and so on. What is the north worried about. While they are at it, they can also use the official RoC mail service system, without everything going to Mersin 10 first. How is the EU going to conduct direct trade with the north which considers it to be part of it's territory officially, and yet all phone calls and mail/post needs to go through Turkey first.?? Sounds to me like, the problem is a self inflicted one by the north.
