This “Turkish Cypriot” gesture alone speaks volumes about their treasonous intentions.

Brother what about Grivas?

The Grivas statue has already been met with statues from TMT adversaries of the same period, but why Ecevit?

The only statue that I am aware of (a member of the TMT) is dentash is there more? (I ask because I dont know)

Actually, is there a statue of Denktash anywhere in Cyprus? Offhand I can't remember seeing one.

You are right in a way but your views are distorted by (i guess) the fact that you got court up in the 1974 intervention, is this true? what you need to try to do is see both sides.

I just see it as pointless. It's one thing to put these monuments up straight after the event, but why do it after 36 years and especially during a peace process? It sends out the wrong message - almost a signal of defiance. It's incompatible with confidence building and reconciliation for either side to make gestures like this. Of course I can see why people would honour the man, but why right now? Is it to help kill off the negotiations?
