EROGLU’S LETTER TO UN SG BAN

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

EROGLU’S LETTER TO UN SG BAN

Postby halil » Sat Apr 24, 2010 4:29 pm

TRNC President Dervis Eroglu has sent a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon amid winning the presidential post, to voice out the TC's expectations regarding the Cyprus problem. In the letter, Eroglu reiterated his committment to resume peace talks with the aim of achieving a fair and lasting settlement under the UN’s Good Offices mission.

Referring to an earlier report of Ban’s predecessor which called for the elimination of restrictions on TC's amid their ‘yes’ vote to the Annan Plan in 2004, the President expressed the disappointment over the fact that the promise on lifting the isolations has not produced any tangible result because of the Greek Cypriot Side’s preventions.
“We still expect this injustice to be corrected. My people do not deserve to live under isolation” he stressed.
He noted that the removal of isolation will actually urge the Greek Cypriot side to work for a settlement.
Eroglu explained that it’s the Cyprus Turkish Side’s sincere wish that peace negotiations will be resumed with the UN parametres which envisage bi-zonality, political equality of the two peoples and the equal status of two constitutent states as well as the formation of a new partnership state.

He reminded once again that the continuation of guarantees is vital for TC's
Underlining the need for mutual genuine political will of the two sides for a solution, he said that the viability of a settlement is much more important than how it is named.
The President also referred to the importance of setting a time-frame for full-fledged talks.
Expressing his wish to meet Ban in a near future, “I am ready to fulfill my responsibilities towards my people and the international community, and to participate constructively in the negotiations” President Eroglu wrote.

BAN KI-MOON CONGRATULATES EROGLU
The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has called President Dervis Eroglu to congratulate him for his new post.
Providing the information, Eroglu said that Ban congratulated him for his presidential victory and spoke of a possibility of holding a meeting with him in a near future. The President said that he will try determining the date for re-launching peace talks with the Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias after holding a meeting with Ban’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer in the beginning of May.

This is obviously a lie. That illiterate muppet Errorglue doesn't speak English and from what I know Ban Ki-Moon doesn't speak Turkish ;)

Can anybody provide the text of this letter? CTP leader Ferdi Sabit Soyer has said that this letter represents political bankruptcy in that it flies in the face of Eroğlu's stated policy during the elections, and Soyer has said that he himself would gladly append his signature to this letter. There is speculation that Ankara wrote the letter and simply told Eroğlu to sign it. If so, there is substance in Birkibrisli's speculation that, in a Machiavellian ploy, Ankara has seen to it that Eroğlu was elected to continue the process started by Talat because not even the most died in the wool hardliner in the north would vote against a solution brokered by him. Time will tell.

Yep, in the next few months, we'll soon see who's tune Eroglu is singing. Erdogan or the Military?
Time will tell indeed.

What? I am a good muslim and you are trying to send me to hell, although there is a lot to be said about hell. Who needs to talk to pot plants, anyway.
I shall have to fast next year for even just thinkin about it, although my fasts are of more practical nature, I tend to fast while I am asleep. I find it easier to cope with it.
