TOGETHER WE CAN

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Where did I dismiss the suffering of anybody? On the contrary I ask why the suffering in the years of 58-59 is dismissed.

Tim, the question is not about Leylas book but about the name of this initiative: "The Bi-Communal Initiative of Relatives of Missing Persons, Victims of massacres and other Victims of events 1963-74".

Why do these people ignore the fact that there were massacres and 100s of victims as a result of the inter-communal conflict prior to the 60s?

Are they maybe trying to mislead the people and make them believe that there was no conflict and massacres before 1963?

Everyone got it a while ago when you supported the murder in cold blood of Solomos.

Everyone knows where you stand.

Bananiot wrote:That is so sick Piratis. You have no idea what you are saying. The invitation is open to all Cypriots and even a sick individual like you can attend. Instead of praising the spirit of these people for their reconciliation efforts after having suffered so much, you talk your usual rubbish like a stuck gramophone needle.
Bananiot you cannot be this dense man, you see with your own eyes the way things flare up when you speak of atrocities, but yet you continue unabated, if you are really a professor you need to open up your mind, this awknowldgement of atrocities will not gain any traction......from any side.....instead of being a sheep and running to where they want you to for propaganda reasons you should be fighting for a true BBF....

True BBF would be facilitated by ANY action that shortcircuits the fruitless negotiation process. If this meeting helps to do that then it is a positive thing.

This tragic woman writes a book to tell her story of how she lost her husband and Piratis has an issue with this and claims that she should write about atrocities that happened before the 1960's. This is madness my friend from America and frankly, I do not see your point either because Cyprus is not the handful of people that write in this forum and it would be very bad science to draw conclusions from a few responses.

Two Cypriot women that both lost loved ones during the conflict years , it matters not WHEN these women's' tragedy happened , what does matter is that two Cypriots are sharing their pain over the loss of their husbands and showing compassion .
Sadly the hatred still exists amongst many on both sides . To feel the pain of the other side is a human sentiment that only the liberated in spirit can manifest into tears and emotions.

You do not see the point because you are too blinded by the appetizers and booze they were serving at this function....I have family members that were massacred in the invasion of 74, one of my cousins was dug up from a mass grave not too long ago, there were emotions at his burial and speeches...whats your point Bananiot? At the dna testing center at Nicosia's airport they were shown the bodies of Turkish Cypriots dug up from another mass grave......im sure there were emotions and speeches at these peoples burial also......The one point that you miss and it will be blunt and i hope you understand it, is that my cousins's burial was not allowed to be broadcast in the occuppied areas, neither were the burials for the Turkish Cypriots broadcast on ROC media.........Without a solution to the Cyprus problem the impact of these events only highlights the propaganda that each side dishes out to its people that the other side is bad.....Both sides are using this issue to forment and divide Cyprus not bring both people together........
