Give me command of the CNG and the ministry of foreign affairs, and I will give you a 100% liberated Cyprus within a month.

He was negotiating with Denktash, around 2001, and at some point they had a heated argument and then total, penetrating silence. The UN envoy feared for the worse. The negotiations were about to break down.

Suddenly, Klerides asks Denktsh.

-Rauf, do you remember Laura?
-How could I forget her, Denktash replied, but that was before I met my wife.
-Liar, answered Klerides and everybody started laughing.

The meeting was saved and the negotiations continued.

Who cares about this and his time as president of the RoC? Who cares if he was popular or not?

What matters most is to find out his role in WW2. Was he a Pilot or not? Was he one of the boys? Being the presidential pleb is unimportant compared to aviation. There is a pecking order you know!

Keep on playing with your joystick dear boy.

If you are willing to pay £3.50 you can get Clerides' RAF wartime POW record from here http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/search-results.asp?searchtype=quicksearch&pagenumber=1&querytype=1&catid=2&query=air+20%2f2336

Copperline, you can only download a list of POWs from the site you quote. Service records from related or deceased servicemen may be bought here; - http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceFor/Veterans/
for £30.

I think I'd rather spend that sort of money on Clerides memoirs to discover the truth. Does anyone know if they have been published in english yet?

Like this;

A GENUINE SOLUTION TO THE CRIME OF THE TURKISH INVASION, OCCUPATION, ETHNIC CLEANSING AND COLONISATION OF CYPRUS WOULD DEMAND

1) The immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all Turkish troops from Cyprus soil as demanded by over 130 UN Security Council resolutions

2) The immediate and unconditional repatriation of all the Turkish colonists who have been brought to Cyprus from Turkey in violation of the Geneva Convention and the cost of this to be paid for by Turkey

3) The immediate and unconditional return of all the refugees to their homes and for Turkey to compensate them for its violation of their human rights as demanded by the ECHR

4) The right for the people of Cyprus to freely choose their own form of government as demanded by the EU Constitution without the barrel of a gun pointing at their heads

Four simple steps, you you guys fill hundreds of pages of garbage.

How about it Turkey???

Only decent, innocent people would, criminals like you and your ilk obviously wouldn't do it. We demand it, the International community demands it, the UN demands it, the EU demands it. But being war criminals, you wouldn't know any different.

this is the Turk through and through. I must have been pissed even to havd suggested it.

Four simple steps

How can you call your numbers 2 and 3 'simple steps'?

What about the descendants of the settlers?

'Unconditional' return of all refugees? What about the GCs who do not want to 'return home'. And their descendants if the original owner is now deceased (I believe the descendants are still classed as 'refugees') who've never even visited the property, far less lived in it.

Bloody yanks!!
B -29s never bombed Germany, the RAF only brought a few AFTER the end of WW2 and they went into sevice as the Washington B1 to supplement the RAFs Lincoln bomber force.
America only used the B29 bomber to strike at JAPAN it never saw service in the ETO as you people called it.
this man has been in three different aicraft, has ditched into the SEA off Heligoland, landed inland and declared a Jude,or was an air gunner who became a pilot (not a common occurance ) and a spitfire pilot.
Either he as very clever or an awful lot of BS abounds about this man.
Next the Americans will tell us they captured the Enigma machine and broke the code by inventing the worlds first computer!!!

What about these 4 steps:

1) Immediate disolvement of the Cyprus National Guard, and total disarmament of GC reservists and civilians...

2)The Return of the TCs to their rightful place in the RoC,including the Vice President Eroglu with VETO power...

3)Full compensation for all Turkish Cypriots for their pain and suffering, their stolen political rights, and for their loss of earnings and life enjoyment capacity as a result of the futile ENOSIS dream...

4)An unconditional guarantee by the GCs,overseen by the EU and the UN, that they will obey the requirements of the RoC constitution without hatching Akritas like plans to rob the TCs of their political and human rights....

How about it B25????
