This is almost surreal when you compare it to how things were just a week ago... :?

Hey,you named it T-C...I was looking for the right word, and the word is

S-U-R-R-E-A-L...

Eroglu is essentially telling the world to get stuffed...Now we know why he got DP support...This team was prepared and agreed on before the election...Now watch the UBP and DP merge and Denktash Junior become
prime minister(Tim,your prediction might be spot on)???...We live in interesting times... :)

And yet life will just continue in the Internationally recognised RoC.

Now this is what arrogance is,Paphidis...

Life will continue on BOTH sides of the divide...The TCs have learnt to live without recognition and with the embargoes..You don't have to see yourself on TV to know that you are alive,if you know what I mean???

I wasn't being arrogant! Just stating a fact.

The internationally recognised RoC will just press on and continue. Meanwhile, we will have a good laugh at Eroglu and Denktash. They will entertain and thrill us with their futile pipe dreams. It's like watching re-runs of Gilligan's Island.

I think it will be really funny when in 5 years time there still won't be any recognition or direct trade.

Again with the blame Turkey game..... Get a grip on reality. Just because Turkey did not buy the outcome what ludicracy to blame lack of democracy in the north and yet blame Turkey for not wanting a settlement. The whole point is that there are no real avenues for new blood to come through with new arguments able to show how the lot of TCs can be improved by better collaboration with the south.

If there was some modicum of change in the stance in the south then there would be opportunity for new blood to come through and demand different policies.

Looking back at the post request, what has changed 2004-10, we can say the perceptions have reverted back to lines closer to 10 years ago of significant mutual mistrust.

TCs are not happy with the old guard coming back in, but, no new energised blood was forthcoming.

All this talk about immigrants however is so "old man". Just as in many EU countires that had major immigration and then lamented the predictability of yester-year, people have learned to move on for the good of the whole society. It is a reality that will now never be reversed. GCs knew the Turkish immigrants were part of the voting population, you don't just throw abuse around and expect people to trust you will be an honest broker.

NB. How are the border control with allowing immigrants from Turkey crossing the green line? Exactly!

You think it is funny to waste another 5 years eh? Jackass.

No direct trade for TCs, no lands back for GCs. Who just won? No-one, only that mis-placed arrogant pride remains uncompromised.

Wow, we should really trust someone like you to orcestrate dialogue. You really want a TC administrator for your site - what another lose-lose player.

All of these guys are war criminals, TMT members, butchered their own TC people during the EOKA struggle for freedom... Eroglu's first mistake... a big one... Erdogan should step in & dismantle this team (if he still wants a solution by the end of the year).

To my fellow TCs... you voted for the wrong guy! I see another 36 years of limbo coming up.

How can you suggest that an external power should come in control TRNC. What kind of a democrat are you. Yorgun Democrat?

To put things in some perspective, Eroğlu scraped by without having to go for a run-off with the votes of just over 37% of the total electorate (the turnout was about 70%), and an analysis of the results show that he drew the strongest support from areas heavily populated by migrants from Turkey such as Karpasia and the walled part of Nicosia. It is instructive to note that Eroğlu's party, the UBP, has created about 1600 new voters with the citizenships that it has granted to Turkish migrants since coming to power, especially when it is borne in mind that he avoided a run-off by less than 500 votes.

These people have rights too. It is time for a paradigm shift in mindset on immigrants and their rights.
They are a part of the equation and have been so since before 2004. Ignore them at your political peril. The world moves on, its scares some, others embrace it.

This is the way that things are going to go. In the future, we may well find that some of the candidates are migrants from Turkey or their offspring.

I suppose its very easy to say this when one of these people are occupying my land and denying my rights, when their rights are being protected by 40,000 guns.
