Greece debt crisis getting worse.

Postby Gasman » Wed Apr 21, 2010 2:21 am

The Wall Street Journal reported that Greece's debt situation was worsening and that "the numbers are changing all the time,"

And a sharp rise in unemployment was announced on the news just now.

It appears the 45 billion euro bailout won,t quite do it, Greece needs a little more, if this is the case its going to be paying back debt for many years.

Yes, said on the news earlier that it will be more like 80 billion by some reckonings.

Not spectacular news for the Euro.

Why hasn’t the Karamanlis government; which had spent the last two consecutive terms in office, been arrested and tried for grand embezzlement?

Because the issues were endemic to Greece way before he even took office.

He is responsible for not doing anything to solve the issue of tax evasion, and could be argued to have contributed extensively. No one can deny.

But, Greeks are not easily Governed. They believe that the State is their cash cow. Nepotism existed in his administration as it did in the administration before him.

A complete overhaul of Greece's political system, public sector, VAT and tax system is required. Greeks need to accept this. Otherwise, things will never change no matter who is in power.

Greeks need to now feel the pain. They need to unite and save their country. A tall order for Greeks. I won't believe my eyes if this happens!
