WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN 2004 AND 2010 ???

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby YFred » Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:05 pm

No, war is fought in a systematic way, deviate from that and you will be lucky if you don't get punished for it. History is full of stupid Generals who cocked up and cost millions of lives.
Hitlers Napoleons attack on Moscow in the winter are two examples. Get the fundamentals wrong and your army will pay the price unless you are lucky in which case you will get away with it.
Simple really, where was this officer school you attended? I bet it was the creche by the side of the old church

We are actually getting somewhere. Yfred and DT have agreed on one thing. Somebody make a not of this day. Cyprus problem is now considered solved.

DT...Assuming that the TA in Cyprus is on an attack formation,do you believe they would ever attack the South without being attacked first?
What motiveation would they have for such a foolish act???

Bir, TA in Cyprus are in their barracks and have no intention of attacking anybody unless stupid fools like GR actually attack them. I go though Military camp to get to Lurucina, and I have never seen any attack formation at all and that is actually on the border. All I see is soldiers sweeping the streets in their flip flops.
Summer holiday mate. Turks in Turkey think they have won the lottery when they get posted to Cyprus. I talked to them regulary and they love soldiering in Cyprus.

thats not what i'm saying. The formations of the 2 armies are based on one single scenario where the TA advances and the NG holds its positions with possible counterattack. This is known by just about everyone that has a relative that served in the army.

Whether this scenarion is carried out or not is not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that an army on a cease fire line needs to be positioned in a way in which it can deal with the most likely scenario, it can't just "lie" there. In the TA's mind the more likely scenario is for a further advancement rather than defend against an offensive.

What motivation did they have to sack and burn Smirni in 1922 when the majority were Greeks?
