T.C's- will take to the streets!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

T.C's- will take to the streets!

This is what one of Talats supporters said in a t.v. interview with a G.C. reporter last night, adding that the majority of T.C's will not allow Eroglu and the hardliners who are backed by the 'deep state' and the military in Turkey to destroy the efforts they have made towards peace during the last few years and their hopes for the future. He also confirmed that Eroglu was only elected because he was voted for by settlers from Turkey and they cannot stifle the voice of the T.C's who want reconciliation with the G.C's and to be part of Europe...They took action in 2003 but unfortunately the G.C's had the wrong leadership then to take advantage of it and show them solidarity - what will they do this time if the T.C's start mass protests?
Underneath all this is the conflict between Erdogan and the opposition in Turkey, with the situation in northern Cyprus being a reflection of it:therefore the outcome is crucial for Turkey and not just Cyprus. The best way to deal with Eroglu is to hold an international conference on Cyprus at which he will be by-passed by Erdogan and told what he has to do,rather than allowing him to deliberately waste time by having fruitless meetings with Christophias until the elections are due in Turkey next year.
The U.N. and other international players are already working behind the scenes, according to todays Politis report and this is probably the only way to find a solution in Cyprus after yesterdays election result.

There is always a bloody timing problem with any one of the five parties (GR, Tk, RoC, TRNC, GB) having elections or some other impediment.

Recently the BBC mentioned the elections in Turkey, while Greek papers are noting that by that time Greece will be over the worst of the financial crisis and more able to resist pressures. But by that time the RoC will be in a pre electin phase and so on and so forth.

An international conference means more opportunity for our leaders to play bigshot, complete with large entourages of gofers and expensive meals in faraway places. Keeping it local, with sandwiches and coffee sounds more productive.
