There are two official signs in close proximity on the road leading into the municipality which I inhabit, one spells the place "Agios Athanasios" and the other "Ayos Athanasios"!

The first one must be the newer of the two. We had a Minister of Education and Culture some years ago that "misinterpreted" a UN regulation on place name translation so all the Ayios became Agios Ayia Agia and the worst of all Paphos Pafos! The tried to change the name of where I live, but the council told them to p*ss off!
