Eroglu is a dinosaur (and a fascist to boot).

This is a bad result for GCs as well since it makes any reconciliation more, not less, difficult.

Having said that, Talat's campaign was poorly organised and lacking in vigour, all of which did nothing to change the popular perception that he had squandered the moral high-ground inherited from the Annan referendum result.

The people gave him 5 years to solve this situation, he produced nothing so they voted in a hardliner who cant speak English, if it makes no difference to the GCs then there you are try agreeing a solution with this guy and see the difference I give Chrisfoias 2 meeting before hes out of there like a rabbit being hunted.

after tcs condemmed us for having tassos they put another hard liner in power..

but he will make things worse for the trnc not better, illusions by the mainland turks and a few tcs who think trnc will ever be a recognised country...

kind of like sampson who thought we would kick the turks off the island and unite with greece... same crap imo

a leader who cant speak english is no problem though they have the translater things and christofias always speaks greek anyway when he meets with other presidents.

his lust for partition will be where the tcs get nothing..

im interested to see how the talks go now what will happen with this guy in charge

You had a hardliner in power and you adored everythig he did, we got nothing with Talat so we will get nothing with President Eroğlu so what? expectations were non exsistent anyway doe to GC intrangience, the same will prevail at least now we give you someone you can really blame.

Even what seems to you this very little Talat's election has allowed you to achieve, will be lost very soon. On top of it, Erdogan's Turkey will strangle you.

How long do we have to wait to prove you wrong? can we say you are wrong if Christofias leaves the negotiations?

Its not as if anything christofias agreed with talat was going to pass any referendum in the south (or in the north by the looks of things), at least now you can continue pretending you support a bizonal bicommunal solution without having to compromise on anything.

Well, it's not our fault... You have just made a choice, based on sheer stupidity and blindness. It seems almost impossible for your community to get over Denktash's and Kemalism's 45 years of nationalistic brainwashing.

Do you support majority rule? then you should respect our choice.

Eroglu won more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a run-off and beat incumbent Mehmet Ali Talat, according to preliminiary results.
Eroglu, who wants more autonomy for each community in any peace settlement, rules out concessions key to Greek Cypriots in reunification talks.
Any stalemate on Cyprus will further complicate Turkey's ambitions to join the EU.

Diplomats have said an Eroglu victory could slow the pace of U.N.-backed reunification talks
Talat has led the talks from the Turkish Cypriot side since they began in 2008.
Eroglu, now the 'prime minister' in the north has said he will continue to negotiate, but his advertised positions are not acceptable to Greek Cypriots.
"Talks will continue because I want peace more than those who say that I don't," Eroglu told supporters at a rally after preliminary results indicated he had won.
"I seek a solution based on the realities of the island and a solution that all of us can live with."
Eroglu wants more independence for each community in any peace settlement, a stance at odds with the basis of talks until now that the island should be a federation of two zones with an effective central government. He has also ruled out any Greek Cypriot return to land now held by Turks.
The conflict not only hampers Turkey's bid to join the EU, but also complicates decision making on defence issues between the EU and NATO, of which Turkey is a member.

That's all very well, but where is my friend to explain it all to us. He has done a houdini act.

Nobody has to explain it to you my dear Yfred......you know and the rest of the world knows that the settlers have spoken today. You are a minority in your own so called country and all of us are fucked now. We'll have to wait another 5 years untill someone with brains comes in to find a deacent solution. This prick is not going to do it for anybody. Let's see how far this clown can take you 8)

I don't think so. The seperation will happen before then. It's over. There is no more time left.

The solution is a dead end who ever gets elected due to GC intrangience so at least President Eroğlu will bring to end the farce of trying to find a solution, the TCs have spoken and its two fingers to the GC solution.

What seperation are you talking about? The world will not accept a 2 state solution. The island is to small for that. Recognition is not an option. If it was it would have happened long time ago. Just another 5 years listening to shit that the average person doesn't want to hear. Just be honest.....it's the settlers that have spoken today. The Tc community that everybody speaks of on this forum will not exist anymore. A sad day in history today.

Sad day indeed. Don't blame the settlers.
Your Muhtar X could not see to make a joint statement to on items agreed so far. Let's not kid ourselves. It is over. Muhtar X will not win next time for the same reason because Eroglu will do the same.
It is over. Cyprus will be no longer. It is pointless talking about unification now. Especially if Erdogan loses the next election which I am convinced he will lose for the same reason.

Wallace how is it that your claim the settlers do Turkeys bidding yet they voted for Eroğlu but Turkey wanted and openly supported Talat?

Can you also expalin why the island is to small for division, we are divided and there are many example of states much smaller than ours doing very well.
