Thanos Papalexis, 36, the son of a Greek shipping magnate and a West Palm Beach socialite, was eating at a local restaurant when he was arrested.
He was being sought in connection with the killing of Charalambos Christodoulides, a Greek Cypriot murdered at his home in London, in March 2000.

Mr Christodoulides, 57, was severely beaten before he was strangled to death. His body was wrapped in a sheet, covered with paint stripper and hidden in a pit.
Two other men have already been charged with his murder and were remanded in custody last week to appear at the Old Bailey for trial in March.
Mr Papalexis, who drives a Bentley and hosted a fundraising party for Bill and Hillary Clinton in January, was picked up at the request of the Metropolitan police in connection with the murder of Mr Christodoulides, a single man who lived in a flat in a disused wine warehouse in Kilburn, north-west London.
He was found buried in a vehicle pit at the warehouse where he had lived for several years in an upstairs flat.
Patterns of blood found at the scene suggested the victim had been tied to a chair, beaten and strangled. It is thought the body was covered in paint stripper to stop sniffer dogs finding him.
News of the arrest was picked up in the gossip columns of the local Palm Beach press, where he has featured several times since he arrived in Florida to set up his property business in 2000.
