There is a policy of patience in Greece. So people put up with the daily violations of air space and pay through the nose for weapons and the cost of interceptions. Patience is not exactly lack of animosity.

Two weeks ago the Turkish navy sent a frigate to international waters off Attica. This is not the kind of message friendly nations send to one another. Not the kind of situation we need in Cyprus.

Nikitas, as a journalist, you must realise that the news agenda is manipulated to manufacture public opinion in line with the needs of a country's ruling class. It seems likely to me that such incursions are being perpetrated by both Greek and Turkish military forces. It is just that the media in Greece never reports the former and makes a huge song and dance about the latter. It is all about creating popular paranoia which helps to keep the masses under control.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul congratulated Dervis Eroglu who won the elections in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and became the third president.
"Turkey will continue to support the will of Turkish Cypriot people for the success of the talks," Gul said noting that the elections took place in transparency in a way reflecting political maturity and exemplary democracy of the Turkish Cypriot people.

"I have the full belief that TRNC will be more strong and prosperous and integrate with the international community during your term in office as president," Gul noted.

Gul said Turkey, as the motherland and guarantor country, would continue to fulfill its responsibilities to assist rightful cause of Turkish Cypriot people to achieve its goals.

Gul also expressed his belief that Eroglu would maintain UN comprehensive negotiations for solution with the same dynamism and constructive approach that have been displayed so far and exert any necessary efforts to conclude the talks in the possible soonest time.
