"Beaten and choked" by immigration officer

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Nikitas » Sun Apr 18, 2010 1:10 pm

It is a recurring theme in Greek/GC history to rely too much on allies. We confuse our values with those of the west, relying on the old myth that the west is based on ancient Greek traditions. The west is firmly based on ancient Rome and the politics of power. It had never anything to do with ancient Greece.

If they will extend flights and direct trade to the TRNC is one of those things that will be determined by self interest. A discovery of oil in the south, to give one very hypothetical eventuality, would erase the TRNC in one fell swoop. And vice versa of course.

It is infuriating to think that access to my home town is governed by the calculations of some foreigners who do not even know where Cyprus is.

Boomerang, that was obvious from the start. The old hurdle was Greece, then Mitsotakis in 1992 lifted the Greek veto on the EU Turkey customs union, telling the European partners that if they had a problem with Turkey they should express it directly and not hide behind Greece.

It was a matter of months later that the Cyprus application was accepted and negotiations begun.

Notice also that the moment Greece and Cyprus stated that their long term policy was for Turkish accession to the EU, that Germany, France and Austria invented the "special relationship" idea.

They may be our partners in the EU, but they are also pimps who do not honor they pants they wear. Everyone is in the EU for their own narrow national interest.

i tend to agree with you...even if flights are allowed, trade is allowed, there will always be the question of turkey occupying cyprus...lisbon treaty or not the problem remains...it has become static...

can't see cyprus ever agreeing to turkey membership without terittory returning to roc...

RIGHT ! the thread is about a woman and an Immigration Officer ..
Apparently there is much unhappiness on the Russian Forum as Olga is well known and respected in russian circles.
For those that think the Accused Officer (if as is alleged) behaved in a threatening and violent manner, will be testified against by fellow officers who may have witnessed the incident - please dont hold your breath!

You left in 72? Then what do you know about the RoC? Absolutely nothing that's what!

If anything the immigration dept needs to get MORE AGGRESSIVE to throw out as many foreigners as possible and keep them out. You have no idea what kind of garbage is making its way to Cyprus.

Have you had a bullets go past your ear?

Even if there was a video of it, the good judge would declare it inadmissible. They are very good at that sort of thing.

"A EUROPEAN Union national working in Cyprus claimed yesterday she was physically abused by the police while trying to register with the Limassol immigration office."

"Apparently there is much unhappiness on the Russian Forum as Olga is well known and respected in russian circles."

The two do not tally. Russia is not in the EU, while EU nationals do not need immigration approval to be in an EU country, so what is this story all about? Can anyone clarify?

This brings the subject back on thread, BOF.

she is married to an EU citizen and therefore i assume claims citizenship.
Maybe this is why the immigration officer demanded that she goes and brings her husband?
I have no idea what country her husband is from.

It would be ironic if he is from TRNC and a settler to boot.
