The truth doesn't always lie somewhere between two versions.

And it seems to me, she was awfully quick to spill her side of the story to the most anti-Cypriot paper going (and YFred being one of the most anti-Cypriot pseudo-Cypriots going, he couldn't wait to post the rubbish!)

I co uld repeat some stories, but one has to put their own house in order first, before criticising others. This is a mistake some forumers often make.

Deniz if you are refering to the TRNC, there is a world of difference between a legally accepted and recognised country playing god with it's citizens and an unrecognised one. The standards and the expectations are not the same.

If the north want to be 'recognised' then they better get their act together and improve their standards - if that is what you refer to/

Deniz ... recognition for the "north" will not come about no matter what they pass off! They are not now "unrecognised" simply because they need to get their "act together and improve their standards".

They are an illegal occupation and as such, nothing less than a return to the RoC will suffice!

Yes carry on thinking like that. Who would have said that IPC would be recognised by ECHR. The next one will have you fscisticos running around like headless chickens.

You left in 72? Then what do you know about the RoC? Absolutely nothing that's what!

If anything the immigration dept needs to get MORE AGGRESSIVE to throw out as many foreigners as possible and keep them out. You have no idea what kind of garbage is making its way to Cyprus.

Have you had a bullets go past your ear?

And the GCs is illegally occupying the RoC government benches...The world will soon have enough of this and recognition of the trnc will be on the cards...It will start with the EU lifting direct trade and flight bans,I predict withing 5 years...The game is over..The fascist extremist Cypriots have won the century......partition is inevitable...You can pop the champagne ,Oracle...

I predict 12 months after these talks collapse or look as though they will last for ever. And it will not matter who is the casue of it. The EU realises they made a mistake, allowing themselves to be drawn in by roc into the CypProb and "don't like it none" as my American friends would say.

"has anyone entertained the thought the reason the roc was allowed to join the eu was to keep turkey out?... "

Boomerang, that was obvious from the start. The old hurdle was Greece, then Mitsotakis in 1992 lifted the Greek veto on the EU Turkey customs union, telling the European partners that if they had a problem with Turkey they should express it directly and not hide behind Greece.

It was a matter of months later that the Cyprus application was accepted and negotiations begun.

Notice also that the moment Greece and Cyprus stated that their long term policy was for Turkish accession to the EU, that Germany, France and Austria invented the "special relationship" idea.

They may be our partners in the EU, but they are also pimps who do not honor they pants they wear. Everyone is in the EU for their own narrow national interest.

No Nikitas, they had never met a president who would negotiate a peace plan but not recommend it to the voters. They certainly did not count on him appearing on TV crying to get the voters to vote no.
So it was a mistake they made and got stuck with it because of the veto the roc had. Now that Lisbon treaty is in place it will all get ironed in the wash as it were?

True,Nikitas..And if their narrow national interests dictate that they lift the ban on the trnc, that is what they will do...I have been warning that it was a mistake for the RoC to put all their eggs in the EU basket...Those eggs are in grave danger indeed...
