Has the govt got money to spend on space?

They can use some of the money they don't spend on pensions, public health expenditure, municipal waste disposal etc.

India has a space programme....

A country with intense poverty which sucks aid out of taxpayers around Europe...

It makes as much sense as Cyprus having one...

Yes! :D

"Cyprus has already issued licences to three satellite operators, one of whom is “very active” in the global market. “Until recently space was just used for research purposes. In the last few years this has changed dramatically,”

This is on top of the investment they made to the Large Hadron Collider (Neutrinos for Cyprus, yeeeaaa!) which finally produced some results :D

Cyprus has the tenth largest telecommunications network in the world and the 3rd largest shipping industry in Europe.

Really Milo, you are sounding more and more vacant and out of touch with reality...

... and since Britain has zero budget for space research this may be your only chance to be launched into space. So don't hold back old girl - go and volunteer for Cyprus :D

Who cares what the UK is upto, I live in Cyprus 'yeehaa' well maybe not everyday.

Seen as I am the younger 8) and more wordly having many more open views on life in other countries as well as Cyprus. I think 'out of touch with reality' my little godzilla is firmly knocking at you door

Having to 'up' ones country so desperately as you do smacks of an island mentality that makes you the vacant one.

Other nationalities who travel more are well capable of finding faults with their own birth countries which in turn makes them well rounded and interesting individuals, ones that you can actually talk or argue with.

You my dear O are living on your own little planet on your 'jack jones' How is it there today hun?

Btw you know reading thru my numerous informative posts  that I too have a love for Cyprus and a little of it belongs to me now  Including Deeds, yeehaa. My place is like golddust, I have been offered a small fortune for it last week yeehaa, but I,d miss your exciting musings, so I,ll stay a while longer.

That of course will not stop me from nitpicking as its in my future interest to get Cyprus perfect!!!The investment you see.

Thankyou for listening, now go off to your weekly hand clapping sessions. Read a few more dictionaries while your at it your vocabulary is getting repetitive. Really enjoy our bouts. Speak soon....

Anything to add to the topic? You know, space flights? Or are you mentally locked in your own self-important, money-making small world?

It makes sense, CG, to these countries (Cyprus, India) with thousands upon thousands of years of civilisation that they still retain the pioneering spirit which enabled them to survive through aeons.

Let them starve then... so long as India can have a Moon probe...?

Frankly I'd prefer Cyprus to concentrate on the basics first - like having enough water to drink and irrigate crops...

I'd guess if I was a starving Indian of a lower caste, living in filth without any source of clean drinking water I might be inclined to think the same...

Errr .....No nothing to add (yawn), I do live in reality dear O, and can,t help but notice that if anyone else posts different subjects you always highjack it back to your silly, old fashioned, constantly repeated, musings(yawn) so get used to it my dear O. Some of us have had enough of your jabberings

Its an Open Forum darling. I will post when I wish, as long as Lana allows. You have no money then O? If you do, maybe you could help with the space programme 8) Or I could lend you a few euro,s

Yes GM that wonderful part of outstanding natural beauty of Cyprus, Cavo Greco (and it is) STILL has a stinking rotten and HUGE waste dump right in the path of tourists going to the natural sea caves, the smell from Konnos Bay (another natural beauty) can be appalling and the tourists boat tours are taken past it. The RoC govt promised again in 2004 it will b gone by the end of the year, they have now said it a fourth time.

Now what makes sense spend the money on a massive clear up all over the island get rid of a few hundred thousand scrap cars buses and lorries plus one combine harvester, builders rubble, dumped chairs, open air land fills, maybe even new animal shelters properly funded? Cypriot pensioners recieve the lowest pension in the EU so how about upping that? OR spend it on the space programme?? I have to go and think about that.....  After all I am foriegner.
